St. Aleydis of Schaerbeck also known as St. Alice or St. Adelaide was born in 1204 and died in 1250. She is the patron saint of the blind and the paralyzed and is a perfect example of Christian suffering, devotion and humility.
She was born in Schaerbeck and spending her days praying. When she was 7 she asked to be raised at the Cistercian convent of “Camera Sanctae Marie,” the Chamber of Saint Mary.
Her feast day is June 15. When she was young she developed Leprosy and had to be quarantined in the convent. As she worsened, she became blind and paralyzed.
Thank you for this day. As my family and friends wake up to a new day, guide, protect and help them. May my family be thankful. Pray for us St. Aleydis. Amen.
