Hello UNT Non-Trads!

Welcome back! We know some of you have at least one on-campus course while others may have all online or remote courses. So welcome back to campus or to virtual class! Also, we want to welcome those of you who are joining the Mean Green Family for the Spring 2021 semester! We are here to help make your journey with us as enriching, fun, and safe as possible.

We also want to congratulate you all for continuing to persevere and thrive during the COVID-19 pandemic. Never forget that Off-Campus Student Services, its parent department Student Activities, and the entire Mean Green Community is here to serve you...for just about whatever you need! Off-Campus Student Services has many plans in store for you to make this semester as rewarding and fun as possible. Stay tuned!

UNT Health Alerts

UNT is doing all they can support students in every way possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you ever have any questions or concerns related to COVID, including what to do if you think you have symptoms or been in contact with one who tested positive, please refer to the UNT Health Alerts site or contact the UNT COVID Hotline at 844-366-5892.

For UNT student COVID testing information, please visit the Student Health and Wellness Center Testing Site.

For general COVID testing information, visit gogettested.com. There is a testing site located at the UNT Union Garage, among many other places in Denton County and beyond.

Fall 2020 Non-Traditional Student Graduation Reception

On December 10, 2020, 49 students were recognized during our bi-annual Non-Trad Graduation Reception. The Reception was held over Zoom, and the graduates in attendance were accompanied by their loved ones who were there in support. Thank you to the Fall 2020 graduates for your time with us, to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Elizabeth With for her words of congratulations and inspiration, to the graduates' loved ones in attendance who's support is invaluable, and Scrappy (Spirit and Traditions), who was also in attendance.

Fall 2020 Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society Inductions

On November 17, 2020, 52 Non-Traditional Students were inducted into the Tau Nu Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society for Adult Learners. Thirty students attended the Virtual Induction Ceremony. We give a special thank you to the Key Note Speaker, Michelle Kelly-Reeves, who is a Ph.D candidate at UNT and the Director of the Health and Wellbeing Initiative at Texas Women's University. Our Off-Campus Housing Source site allows you to create a roommate profile and find like-minded and compatible UNT students. You can organize your search results and refer to them in the future. Just login from the homepage and take advantage of website features, including searching for local apartments or special housing needs and saving your favorite search results for future viewing.

Nest Watchers Applications Open for Spring 2021!

If you are in need of a babysitter or would like to babysit for a UNT student-parent, we have a services for that! Nest Watchers connects current UNT student-parents who express a need for babysitting services with current UNT students who are interested in babysitting. Open House Spring 2021: January 27- February 7

Join our Virtual Campus Services Open House to learn about UNT and community resources that can help you with your academic and social journey! The Virtual Open House will be hosted on a digital platform where you can view videos posted by UNT departments and community partners. In addition to learning about valuable resources, you can be entered in a drawing to win prizes, such as UNT apparel or some Off-Campus Student Services swag, if you view and summarize at least 5 videos from the Virtual Open House.

Fun Activities

Nominate a Tree for Landmark Status in Denton!

A landmark tree has at least one of the following criteria:

  • Is a healthy tree that is designated by the property owner on the Texas Big Tree Registry, regardless if the tree is protected or a non-protected.
  • Is a tree designated as a Historic Tree where an event of historic significance occurred that had local, regional, or national importance.
  • Is at the home of a citizen who is famous on a local, regional, or national basis.
  • Has taken on a legendary stature in the community, is mentioned in literature or documents of historic value, or is considered unusual due to size, age, or other landmark status.

Historic Trees shall be designated following the Historic Landmark Designation procedure. For more information use the following link: Landmark Tree Registration.

UNT's Online Media Resources

Did you run out of things to watch on Netlix? Are you bored of re-watching the same shows on your subscription streaming services? Do not worry! The UNT Libraries provide current UNT students, faculty, and staff with access to thousands of educational films that can be viewed entirely online. By making these films available online for anytime/anywhere access, the Libraries continue to improve the support of distance, hybrid, and traditional education at UNT. There are many great films and documentaries you should check out, and all you need is your EUID and password! For more information visit UNT Online Media.

UNT Perk of the Month

African American Museum of Dallas at Fair Park

The African American Museum of Dallas is the only one of its kind in the Southwestern Region devoted to the preservation and display of African American artistic, cultural and historical materials. It has one of the largest African American Folk Art collections in the US. Guided tours are $1 with valid student ID at the gate.
