Guided Fishing Expedition
Half Day Guided Wade Trip
This is an ideal trip for the first-timer who wants to get a feel for what fly-fishing is all about or for the more experienced angler who wants an orientation to the Arkansas River fishery. Available year-round in Salida and March-October in Buena Vista, this trip can be conducted on the Arkansas River, tributary streams, or area stillwater fisheries depending on fishing conditions and ability/fitness of guests. For beginners, the trip will often start on a nearby pond and then move to the river/stream once basic casting and line-management skills are acquired. More experienced guests will go immediately to the river. Designed for 4 hours on the water, the trip is generally scheduled to meet at our shops at 8:00 am or 1:00 pm. The trip includes use of any needed gear, flies and terminal tackle, and a one-day license if needed.
Trip Cost: 1 Angler $250 | 2 Anglers $300 | 3 Anglers $370
Full Day Guided Wade Trip
While the half-day trip is apt to experience one significant aquatic insect event and associated feeding behavior from the fish, a full-day trip would more typically experience three. In that regard, and the actual time out on the water (approximately 8 hours), this is truly a full day of fishing. Same availability as the half day wade trip in terms of location and time of year, and same inclusions, this full day pricing also applies to our High Lakes trips in the San Isabel National Forest. Meets at either shop, generally at 8:00 am.
Trip Cost: 1 Angler $370 | 2 Anglers $420 | 3 Anglers $495
Guided Float Trips
Half Day Guided Float Trip
Float fishing from our custom-framed rafts is an amazing way to experience the Arkansas River. These trips combine the sheer pleasure of boating with ever-changing scenery, access to private or hard-to-reach water, and the enjoyment of spending quality time in close quarters with a favorite fishing partner. Covering 5-9 miles (depending on flow), this style of fishing is best for those who have already mastered the basics of casting and line management. Departs either shop at 8:00 or 1:00. Includes use of gear – does not include flies/terminal tackle or license. Available March – October.
1 Angler $295 | 2 Anglers $325
Full Day Guided Float Trip
For guests who have basic fly-fishing skills or better, this is an amazing day on the water. Covering 7-15 miles, these trips typically traverse a significant portion of Browns or Bighorn Sheep Canyons, taking anglers into water that is inaccessible to the wade fisherman. Over the course of the day, guests frequently experience three or more distinct feeding patterns as water temperatures and lighting changes and different aquatic insects become active. A great way for two experienced fishermen to spend quality time together! Departs either shop at 8:00 am, March – October. Includes use of gear – does not include flies/terminal tackle or license.
1 Angler $415 | 2 Anglers $450
