Level Up Strategy - Writing
Using Twitter in the Classroom
This blog post shares 18 ways to use Twitter in the classroom. I found it while searching for an activity that my students and I loved - Twitter around the room. Using the document below, I would write a tweet, post an actual tweet, post a picture with a blank twitter document below or have the students each write their own, based on what we were talking about. I would post the document(s) - if not already posted- and the students would complete a gallery walk, retweeting and stating their agree or disagreement. I would add higher level requirements depending on the course, such as why they agreed or disagreed.
Although this article did not have the activity described above, there are some great activities shared. For example - have the students compose tweet a summary of class that day. This exit ticket could tag the class handle, or on a sheet of paper that they turned in.
Other activities mentioned are a Twitter Book Club, Discovering tweet in the Target Language and more!
NPR Student podcast competition
NPR is inviting students to create a 3-12 minute podcast for grades 5-12. This would be a great opportunity to advocate learning another language! Accepting submissions through March 31, 2019.
