A 17-year-old teenager, Mia Hall, is involved in a car accident, where she's the only member of her family who survived. She's in a coma, which causes her to have an out-of-body experience, which allows her to watch her family and friends gather around her in the hospital. She has to make the choice of staying with Adam, her boyfriend, and her grandparents, or moving on with her family.
She's a talented cellist from Oregon, and struggles to fit in with her family and with Adam Her family prefers rock music. Adam Wilde is very popular in school and is in a band called "Shooting Star".
I liked how the story uses flashbacks to tell Mia's story and to develop her character, and we also get to know her family, friends, and Adam.
