"...having done all, STAND!" Communiqué :: february 2021

“ …having done all, STAND!"

Hi everyone,

“ …having done all, STAND!

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness….” (Eph 6:10-20)

God does not only want us to face the challenges as we struggle through different issues and situations in life. He wants us to STAND, and not be defeated at the end of it. Some are questioning if it is indeed possible to beat this COVID 19 Pandemic with all that the entire world in trying to do. The answer is YES, because of the, “power of His might.”

We need to STAND against the wiles (schemes, tactics) of the devil v11 “…may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil…”. The devil has many schemes but the one that he uses most is, to make us question God. It cased the downfall of Adam and Eve. Gen 3:1 “Has God indeed said….”’ The devil used the same tactic again on Jesus by telling “half-truth” Jesus was able to overcome not by declaring the whole truth. .(Matt 4:1-11)

We need to make victory our final goal. v13 “…having done all, to stand…”. The journey and fight may be challenging, tough and bruising but at the end, we STAND.

We need to STAND dressed in the whole armor of God v 14 “…Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness….” It is not easy to put on the whole armor. It seems cumbersome and unnatural for a person who is pursuing the practical part of life. We all like to be as comfortably human as possible, but we also need to realize that we are at war with an enemy who is diabolical and have spiritual power. v12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” There we need to put on the spiritual armor.

Get used to your defensive armor- helmet, breastplate, shield, belt, sandal and your offensive armor of the sword and prayer.

“Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which, you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” v13-18

We need to be dressed always in the armor that it becomes our second nature and as a result, we can move, maneuver and fight the enemy comfortably and victoriously.

Once again Blessed New Year to all of you and your loved ones.

And remember, “The Future is as Bright as the Promises of God!!!”

Your Pastors,

Pastor Ong Sek Leang & Pastor Nancy Ong

Continual Intercession for Deep Intervention!

“praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel” (Eph 6:18-19)

Anticipation was high from all parties for this event from all quarters as teachers and the Kings Kids team had been preparing for this for months. The event kicked off with an avalanche of entry of children. This Zoom Event registered a high number of participants of over 140! All Glory to God, such encouraging response of those who were present. It was indeed so nice to have our visitors with us too.

The event kicked off with a welcome by Pastor Nancy and carols of Joy to the World. All the Department Heads shared a special Christmas Greeting to all our children which had been sorely missed. Families of Metro Tabernacle recorded a song presentation of Silent Night which undoubtedly brought smiles to everyone to see such loving families together in this season. The highlight was of course the salvation message that was shared by Pastor Nicholas Choo done thru his creative use of 'magic tricks' and visual aids. There must be quite a few who wondered how many cookies did Pastor Nicholas actually ate. Or eat?

The cherry on top of all the performance(s) however was the performance by the children of Kings Kids singing the moving song, ‘Mary did you know?’. The performance of the song was done with such sincere enthusiasm and expression of love that it was heart warming to watch. It was then followed by an interesting segment of children who had been interviewed on what their thoughts were of Christmas. The entertaining part was inevitably their very interesting answers.

A moving mime performance by Teacher Patrick to the stirring song, ‘It’s About the Cross’, helps bring to focus the message that the birth of Christ leads to the Cross. That amidst all the festive celebration, the true reason why God sent Jesus to earth is not just for Christmas, but it is for us to be redeemed that we may be with God again. Pastor Nancy then took the opportunity to give an invitation to all the children to ask Jesus to be their personal Saviour before proceeding to pray for all who attended the Zoom session. The entire first segment of the event ended with the song Happy Birthday Jesus before we were all moved into our assigned age breakout rooms.

In the Younger Age (3-6 yrs old) Room, children and teachers were engaged in a time of playing fun games, learning to make a paper Christmas tree craft and even enjoyed snacking on their favourite food. Many children enthusiastically dressed up to compete for best dressed and the winning position.

Amongst the winners of the different departments was a visitor named Eugene who donned a pair of colourful goggles and colourful cute mittens and Kayson who wore a cute sheep costume and The most enjoyable time was the snack time where children and teachers took some time out to hang out and chat.

Adrenalin was brought down a notch with calm creative sharing of how to make thank you Christmas cards and also Christmas Star Ornaments in the 7-9 age group room before proceeding to more photo taking sessions and a short snack and chatting session amongst all present. It was with great reluctance that the zoom session was finally called to an end. We ended the precious time of fellowship with the children with a word of prayer.

Zoomtastic Christmas was indeed a Fantastic time together with the children. Looking forward to a great Zoom time on the 1st Sunday of February. See you there!

One morning, I had a "fresh" encounter with the Holy Spirit. Right around 1 am, I experienced foot cramp. The pain on my foot was unbearable. I had to use ointment and massage it. Suddenly, I was lead to speak in tongues non-stop. It took awhile and then I took breaks in between reading the Bible until about 5 am. I strongly believe this is my "turning point" for greater spiritual breakthroughs in the near future. All Glory to God almighty! Amen! & Amen!
