London’s iconic tower illuminated by Future Lighting

Future Lighting were commissioned to design and install a new LED lighting solution to illuminate the landmark roof-mounted turbines at the stunning Strata Building.

Located in London’s Elephant & Castle, this impressive residential building has cemented itself as one of the iconic structures in our beautiful city.

Strata SE1 constructed in 2018 was one of the first buildings in the world to incorporate wind turbines as part of its structure. The three 9-metre (30 ft) wind turbines at the top of the building are rated at 19 kW each and were anticipated to produce a combined 50MWh of electricity per year, enough to power 8% of the energy needs of the building, sufficient to supply the building's communal areas.

The project was completed on-time and ran incredibly smoothly considering the logistics involved with such a scheme. The tower is now back to all its glory and the turbines are now rightfully illuminated for local residents and tourists to enjoy.

Our Director, Jamie Willsdon has been heavily involved in this project and commented: -

“This is an incredible project for the Future Group. To be commissioned to design and install such a landmark project is a fantastic accolade for our business”

We are currently building a Case Study with an array of professional photographs which we hope to have finalised very soon. Watch this space...

A London building protected by Future Fire

Future Fire were appointed to design, install and commission a fire detection & fire alarm system to a ‘cladded’ building in the City of London.

The London Fire Brigade had ‘insisted’ that the tower block have additional detection and sounders installed within the apartments, interfaced alongside the existing fire alarm system.

London Fire Brigade Assistant Commissioner, Dan Daly (LFB website);

"While we are supportive of a ban on combustible cladding, it’s not enough to make building's safer. Banning cladding won’t make buildings safer unless you ensure that only properly qualified people can make decisions about how buildings are built and maintained”

This project was to protect the apartments with early warning fire detection and alarms, so that if a fire broke out within one of the flats, a monitored system linked to an alarm receiving centre would notify the Fire & Rescue service, thus reducing the spread of fire across the building.

Our Director, Bradley Parker has been heavily involved in this project and commented: -

“This was a very challenging project due to the requirements of gaining access to every property in this tower block. We planned the coordination of this installation, in line with the Project’s program of works and successfully handed over the site to the Client.
The building was inspected, tested and ‘signed off’ by the London Fire Brigade. A fantastic achievement for the Future Group in being able to assist in this buildings plight in becoming a safer environment to live”

We were once again winners at this year's ARMA ACE awards

At this year’s ARMA Awards, the chosen theme was neon. So, what better way to look cool in the hot weather than some bright green-neon sunglasses. Our Future branded shades were such a hit, that even the band got involved by wearing them.

It was another award-winning year for Future Group as our very own Bradley Parker was awarded the ARMA Unsung Hero Award for all his dedication to the fire & life safety industry.
