A Message From Pastor Kris

Thank You! These past several weeks have been difficult as individuals, families, a church community, and a nation. Despite these circumstances, God's church has been a beacon of hope in our community. As I write this, our team is preparing to return to in-person services. We are excitedly anticipating God's ongoing blessing on his church, and I also want to take a moment and acknowledge what God has done in this difficult time. As a church family we have delivered 1,567 cards and over 3,500 pieces of candy along with gift baskets to 24 nursing homes and care facilities. I especially thank Lorraine Ignarski for coordinating these efforts and ensuring the ministry was conducted safely. We have also blessed medical workers with masks and supplies to clean their homes and keep their families safe. Thank you for serving our community! This is all in addition to reaching out to one another in love as we have worshipped digitally for the past several weeks.

I also want to thank our congregation for their faithfulness to Christ, His Kingdom, and our church during these trying times. You have faithfully shared our online services with many friends who have no church home. In fact, we believe that our church services have been viewed by more unchurched individuals and families in the past six weeks than any other period in the church's history. My prayer is that we will continue to impact lives for Christ as we move forward transitioning to in-person services. As a congregation you have chosen to sacrificially give to the ongoing ministries of our church through your tithes and offerings. Throughout this crisis we have endeavoured to share alternative means of giving without inducing guilt, especially on families who find themselves struggling during this time. Although we have experienced an overall drop in giving, God has protected Shawnee Alliance Church. The faithful giving of our congregation along with the wise stewardship of the financial team and church leadership have allowed us to come through this season without a significant loss of ministry ability. Moving forward, we have ensured that funds are available to continue to minister effectively for many years to come. Please hear me - this is not about money. This is about God's people coming together to support the ministries of our church so that lives would continue to be transformed.

Finally, I want to thank our church family for the prayers you have lifted to God on our behalf, and the encouragement that we have received. Our church leadership, staff, and congregation remain united in a single purpose: Transforformed Lives. On Palm Sunday (which feels like five years ago), I began my tenure as Lead Pastor by challenging our church to join me in praying daily that the Gospel would move forward through the ministries of Shawnee Alliance Church, for the safety and health of our people, for the health and safety of our community, and specifically for my family. Upon returning home, I was greeted with a message through our social media: a young child, head bowed in prayer, as he counted to four to support his church in prayer. I have felt the power of your prayers during this time and it has made all the difference for my family and our church. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

In His service,

Pastor Kris

How To Connect With Us

Youth Ministry Updates

Student Ministry - Meeting through Zoom

Have you or your student been involved in any groups outside of their schoolwork? SAC’s Student Ministry is still in session and meeting weekly! Hopeshakers meets in large online group formats through Zoom on Sunday nights at 6pm. In May, they are taking on a series called “Atypical” which asks the question - how normal or dysfunctional is your family? It’s important to keep in mind that God used not-so-typical families because not-so-typical families pray for each other, have tough conversations, and forgive each other. Please feel free to reach out to Pastor Josh to get the Meeting ID and Password for the Zoom meetings. (Please note, in order to keep a safe online environment, we are no longer posting these meeting ID’s and passwords on social media.) For more info and to stay connected with what is going on in the Hopeshakers group, visit their page on Instagram and Facebook. We hope to see your student online with us!

2020 GRADUATES

Do you have a student that is a 2020 graduate? We want to honor them in our Graduate Recognition service on Sunday, June 7th. We will be meeting in person for that service, both at 9:30 am and 11 am in the Activity Center. If you can meet in person, we will recognize your graduate while maintaining appropriate distancing. If your family is unable to meet in person, we would still love to recognize your student through online viewership. Please email Pastor Josh at josh@shawneealliance.com with your students’ name, what school they are graduating from and a senior picture for their recognition. Your student will also be presented with a gift on behalf of the church after the service.

Children's Ministry Update

Happy May everyone!

This month, we are learning all about DETERMINATION!

Determination is deciding it is worth it to finish what you started, even when it seems impossible. I think about the task that Jesus gave his disciples; to share with ALL the nations about the good news of Jesus. Can you imagine what they must have felt when he first told them of the great commission? Yikes!!! Thank goodness we were given the Holy Spirit as our helper in all things to help us stay determined! When my determination begins to slip away, I am reminded that God is always with me and can help me no matter what! To help us have some fun with our "sticky lessons" this month, your kiddos will be receiving a slimy surprise in the mail. I know parents....slime gets messy..... but it is sooooo fun and it reminds us of the wild mess we are and how much Jesus loves us despite it all! <3 Enjoy this week's video.

Love and miss you all! -Miss Erin

Upcoming Events

We will be opening up both the 9:30 am and 11:00 am in-person services on May 17th. Both of these services will continue to be broadcast online through Facebook and YouTube. For our in-person services, social distancing will be followed; and the set-up will be adjusted to keep services safe for those that attend and serve.

Some small groups are meeting digitally. Other groups have begun planning to return to in-person meetings. For more information contact your group leader, or use the "Groups" page on the website. Many other events and groups meeting in the coming months are still pending. Please continue to check out our social media platforms and the Shawnee Alliance website for up to date information.

Prayer

Our Prayer Ministry aims to teach and lead the church in both individual and corporate prayer. We submit to Jesus Christ as the head of the church and will strive to obey his command that his church should be called a house of prayer. We do this through prayer and fasting as a congregation once a month, prayer chain emails, classes on prayer and intercessory prayer team members praying prior to and during the Sunday morning services.

If you want to be involved or get more information on our prayer ministry, please contact Denise at denisellen1@gmail.com.

Do you have a request that you want to share with the staff or placed on the prayer chain? Feel free to contact us with prayer concerns for staff only or to share with prayer warriors by emailing your request to: prayer@shawneealliance.com.

Weekly Bible Reading

The number one habit to bring transformation to your life is reading your Bible. You will get to know Jesus on a deeper level and learn wisdom for your everyday choices. You can find a free Bible in the Lobby. Take one today or download the YouVersion app on your phone. Use this simple SOAP format to guide your interaction with God's Word.

  • Scripture. Take your time reading each chapter and allow God to speak to you.
  • Observation. What do you see God doing in the Scripture? What is God saying to you?
  • Application. Ask yourself how you can apply this to your life right now.
  • Prayer. Communicate with God and ask Him to help you apply this to your life.
