As our 32 Winds family grows, not only internally but with our club and national distribution, I often reflect on just how special a team we, you, me, have supporting us here.
The curiosity and desire to participate displayed by everyone involved was, at least initially, a little shocking to me. Having a group of friends/colleagues share and participate with you, be it in the vineyard, the winery, or with family outside of work, has me feeling like we are all becoming a “bundle of sticks”.
In one of Aesop’s Fables, a father can’t stop his sons from quarreling incessantly. He searches for an example to unite them and one day asks a son to bring him a bundle of sticks. He then asks each son to try and break the sticks, of which none is able to do so. He then unties the bundle and asks each son to break a stick, which they do so easily. The father proclaims "do you not see how certain it is that if you agree with each other and help each other, it will be impossible for anyone to injure you? But if you are divided among yourselves, you will be no stronger than a single stick in that bundle."
In unity is strength.
