The Great Wall of China took almost 20 years to construct

The Chinese built walls to protect their own states and when King Zhen of Qin conquered the last of his opponents and unified China as the first emperor the Qin Dynasty. He ordered many billions to build the first part of the wall thereafter the emperor's descendants continued on the building the wall.
