Pertussis Harley mccuMber

Pertussis came around in the 1940s, it is a deadly virus that kills primarily babies and young toddlers.

Prior to the vaccine 200,000 children were infected and about 9,000 died. After vaccination only about 10,000-40,000 cases were recorded with only 20 deaths per year.

Babies should get about 5 doses of the vaccine through their childhood and then a booster tap around age 11-12 for maximum protection. The vaccine is the DTaP shot that is a mandatory shot needed now.

The anatomy:

Nasal congestion, sneezing, low grade fever, tearing, conjunctival suffusion.(whooping cough)

It is a respiratory tract infection which causes a block within the breathing track in the lungs. It gives off a paroxysmal cough. This doesn't effect the blood tract.

How it works:

The vaccine goes in and Attacks the bacteria growing within the respiratory tract and allows the lungs to expand more for more oxygen intake.

This is a live vaccine that allows for the infection to be introduced to the bacteria and create antibodies against it.

We all think strep throat is terrible, imagine a whooping cough that never stops; get vaccinated!
