Trojans Tripped Up in Westwood USC falls to UCLA to split the season series

After four straight wins over its crosstown rival, USC headed to Pauley Pavilion Saturday night to take on No. 6 UCLA.

The Trojans came out strong, but the Bruins surged ahead on a 17-3 run that began just over midway through the first half.

Once shots started to fall for the Bruins, who finished 53.8 pct from the floor, the Trojans couldn't slow them down.

USC shot 33.8 pct on the night.

Bennie Boatwright led USC's efforts with 20 points and 10 rebounds — his first double-double of the season.

The sophomore co-captain has scored double digits in every game since his return from a knee injury.

Chimezie Metu also muscled his way to double figures, with 14 points on the night.

All five of UCLA's starters managed double-digit scoring in the 102-70 win.

Next up for USC is its final road trip of the regular season. The Trojans take on No. 5 Arizona on Thursday, then head to Arizona State for a Sunday afternoon clash.
