The era of good feelings

During my stay in America I quickly realized what America was all about. America is one of the fastest growing states. I have also noticed that they are very strong for what they believe in. In some cases its starts riots or shoot outs. They’re very different social standings, landowners, common people and working class. The United States became a continental nation when they bought Louisiana from France and the settlements beyond the Appalachian Mountains. But they were not too kind to our colored friends. The latest president Andrew Jackson owned at one point 150 slaves which makes him one of the elite slave owners.
During the late 1820s and the early 1830s the Democratic Republican Party was led by Andrew Jackson. Supporters favored a small national government and were against the economic aristocracy. Although president Jackson was the head leader of the Democrats he chose to pick his own people to help him in the office and fired the ones that had worked very hard to get to where they were. They created a bank that Jackson hated and thought that the bank was trying to take their money. So he tried to make it so there was no paper money and that everything was to be paid in gold and silver. This did not work and the bank thrived from then on.
Art was a major part in America's uprising. One of the key kinds of art was romanticism. Romanticism was a major international movement that was influential in shaping modern views of art, literature, and music. The idea of romanticism was that it was kind and through nature. But you could still draw or sing the dark side of nature, such as storms and fire, also fascinated the romantics. There wasn’t just romanticism there was folk art too. Folk art is made by the common people, simple, direct and usually very colorful. Men most of the time made folk art by carving weather vanes and hunting decoys, while women usually made quilts. You could make signs, murals and images of the national symbols like the flag.
Like art, music played a huge part in the growth of early America. Romanticism was not only for art but for music and literature too. Romanticism in music meant that people would write songs that were polite and had to do with nature. It could also have been written to show fire, thunderstorms and other dark parts of nature. They didn't have to be singing to play music. They could play instruments and hum. Slaves usually had there own type of music. They called it soul music. They sang or hummed when ever they could, in the fields under their breaths, before they went to bed, at leisure time and so on.
literature was now starting to begin in America. America now had a history to write about, with the American Revolution ending they could write about the wars that happened during it. Biographies were starting to be written about key people in the American revolution such as George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and so on. The printing press was being upgraded, with the new steam press, it could now make more newspapers a lot faster. Romanticism plays a part in literature by people being able to write in more depth. People would be able to not just write about kindness and nature, they could now write about things that happened in the past.
To some people The Era of Good feelings was not so good. This time period was when massive slave owners like President Andrew Jackson, who owned at least 150 slaves himself, thrived because of how much product the slaves could produce. If one of the slaves tried to escape that slave would get whipped until the owner of the slave said it was enough. These whippings could potentially kill a slave if not treated, but it still often did. It was not easy for the native Americans that lived near the settlements either, especially for the Cherokee Indians. Even though most tribes tried to obeyed the laws by creating their own government and schools. But this didn’t stop President Jackson from shipping them off to an open space in Oklahoma . This event was called the trail of tears. It moved thousand of Cherokee Indians and killed thousands more.
America is an up and coming country that does what they believe is right. During the late 1820s and the early 1830s the Democratic Republican Party was led by Andrew Jackson. Supporters favored a small national government and were against the economic aristocracy. Art in America was a major part in America's uprising. One of the key kinds of art was romanticism. Romanticism was a major international movement that was influential in shaping modern views of art, literature, and music. Like art, music played a huge part in the growth of early America. Some song like the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance symbolize our country. literature was now starting to begin in America because America now had a history to write about.
