Welcome! GT Student and Parent Info 2021-22

We welcome you to our FSMS family and hope all our families are staying safe! We continue to immerse into a rich year of learning and celebrating your student's growth.
Let's refresh on 'how' we work on our GT Learning Plans (LP) .
SMART Goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely. This type of goal strategy sets our students up to achieve in depth w/process and guidance.
1. FSMS applies SMART goal setting in order to monitor based on data, give feedback, and set ongoing goals. These are student-driven w/ specific strategies best suited for individual learners, and connect back to Profile of a Graduate.
2. Our GT students will use Profile of Graduate Traits to integrate SMART affective and academic goals that are of interest.
After setting an academic and affective goal, students will be working on various high-interest projects, focusing on certain skill sets, developing deeper relationships with peers and the world, or any other goals that may be of interest.
3. We will write these goals in partnership of student, teacher and parent into the Skyward GT Learning Plan.
Please stay actively informed and connected w/dates, revisiting goals through our online communication & approval.
4. We will work on GT Learning Plan throughout the school year, monitor progress & growth on data driven GT strategies to meet the needs of our students while working simultaneously on TPSP (Texas Performance Standards Project) and their choice of inquiry.
We want our students to enrich and OWN their learning process through a variety of tools and resources! TPSP will provide students with an opportunity to share their in-depth knowledge of a topic of interest.
5. Student, teacher and parent partnership will be key to success! As a parent keep communicating w/your student & GT monitoring advisory teacher; you will provide support and finalize LPs w/in Skyward Platform.
If you have any questions please reach out to your GT monitoring advisory teacher or FSMS COGS!
Let's make it an awesome 2021-22 School Year!
