Fundraiser Pick-Up: This will occur in the gym on October 29, 2019 from 2:30-6:00. You may enter at Door 15 on the north side of the building. Please plan to claim your items then.

School Pictures/ Picture Retakes: We are pleased to share the school pictures have arrived and were sent home today. Please review these. Picture retakes will be Thursday, October 31, 2019. You should have received communication in an email from Lifetouch about the cause of the delay.

Book Fair: Our Scholastic Book Fair will be October 28-November 1. We look forward to seeing families here at Harris for Family Night on Wednesday, October 30, from 5-7 PM. See you there!

Lunch Visits: If you plan to visit during lunch, please remember that school rules apply for students: students must remain in their seat, follow cafe rules, ask to use the restroom and remain in their assigned area. Any food brought should only be shared with your student. Due to food allergies and illness, please do not share food with other students.

eLearning Information

eLearning: All buildings will be closed to students on the planned eLearning days (November 7th and February 5th).

All Harris student will bring home their iPad on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. On this date, students will have a short activity to complete on their device. This will allow students to test out wifi connections. You will receive more information from your child's teacher. Please return the device to school on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

eLearning Community Daycare: The Boys and Girls Club of Hancock County will be open for members and nonmembers on the GC eLearning day, November 7th. This program will be capped to the first 100 students to sign up. If the students are already a member there will not be a fee. For any nonmembers, it will be a $15 fee for the day. This program will focus on support for students to complete their academic assignments.

Parent Teacher Conferences: These will we held on October 28th and 30th. If you have not already arranged for one, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule a conference.

Staffing Update:  Mr. Bastin, our Physical Education teacher, is taking a leave of absence. We look forward to his return. In the meantime, Ms. Amy Cruse will join us at Harris to fill this leave.

Veteran's Day

Hancock County Promise has a special announcement!!

The Hancock County Promise is going to give away four (4) $500 scholarships to four different Hancock County students in the class of 2032. All you have to do for your child to be eligible to win a $500 scholarship (payable to their 529 direct account) is register your child for an Indiana CollegeChoice 529 account through the Hancock County Promise by October 31, 2019. Go to hancockcountypromise.org and register!

Many of you have already registered and are therefore eligible to win one of the 4 $500 scholarships. However, many of you have not registered yet...do not delay...register today! You get a free CollegeChoice 529 direct savings account for your child and we will deposit a one time sign-up incentive of $25 into every account of children in the class of 2032. Additionally, your child will become eligible to win one of the 4 $500 scholarships! This is a FREE program and there is NO CATCH! Register today!

Holiday Assistance Applications

Holiday Assistance: Applications will be available from Mrs. Hall, our school counselor, from October 28 - November 15. Families, churches, or organizations who wish to sponsor a family in need should also contact Mrs. Hall, school counselor at Harris Elementary. You can reach her by calling the school or emailing her at khall@gcsc.k12.in.us

Kids Talk: Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation is pleased to partner with Kids Talk through Aspire Indiana to bring a program called Body Boundaries to all of our K-6th grade students this school year. Body Boundaries is an evidenced-based prevention program for students that educates children on body safety as well as digital media safety. For more information please click on the button below.

Field Trips and Parent Volunteers

If you plan to attend a field trip with your student, you must have a background check on file. Please complete the Volunteer Application for this background check. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance. The link is below.

Parent Volunteers: Our volunteer profile form is available for the 19-20 school year. Just click the link below! You have to be approved to work as a classroom volunteer and to chaperone field trips. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance of volunteering.

Lunch Accounts: You may put lunch money in your child's account at www.ezschoolpay.com. There is a small fee and you will need your child's student number found in PowerSchool. Lunch money may also be submitted by check. Please be sure to keep your child's lunch account in good standing. Additionally, our cafeteria computer system does not have the capabilities to put a "block" on student lunch accounts for purchasing extra lunch items. Please talk to your child if you do not want them purchasing extra items.

PTO: There was a really nice turn out at the first meeting. Thank you for your interest in helping Harris. The next meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 6, @ 2:30 PM here at Harris. We hope you can join them.

Attendance: Congratulations to our Mrs. McIntosh's class. These students had the highest attendance as a class during the month of September. They enjoyed a fun treat to celebrate!

Attendance: We encourage all of our students to attend school whenever they are well enough to do so. Good school attendance is important in helping students achieve academic and social/emotional success.

Character Winners: Congratulations to these students who were recognized for the character trait of Truthfulness.

Author of the Month: Congratulations to these students who were recognized as the Author of the Month recently.

The Athletic Department at Greenfield-Central is excited to share with you the first edition of The Blue and Gold. The Blue and Gold is meant to provide you with event recaps, information about our teams, coaches and community members, spotlight our sponsors and build support for all of our student-athletes. Our goal is to release three editions of The Blue and Gold each year.
