Yamhill County Metrics and School Operating Plans UPDATE

School reopening metrics were updated on October 30, 2020.

To move to an In-Person Hybrid Model, Yamhill County must meet the metrics in a single 2 week lookback as follows:

From Oct. 18 - Oct 31, the last 2 weeks, Yamhill County had 96.2 cases per 100,000 and a test positivity rate of 4.9% which places AES in the Transition planning phase for moving to On-site Hybrid. We must use the on-site hybrid model to keep classes small and give our kids and teachers enough space. Our plan is to slowly add 2 grade levels at a time in Grades K-3 allowing us to monitor and adjust procedures as needed before adding additional grade levels. When allowed, we would phase in the 4th and 5th grades.

The AES staff will strive to provide a safe and healthy school with an environment that supports learning for our students and our staff . We will keep you updated and communicate additional information soon.

District Food Service

The Amity School District Food Service Team continues to provide Grab and Go meals to any child along bus routes between 10:25am and 11:45am. Meal pickup is available at the elementary school between 10:30am and 1:00pm.

Counselor Corner

COURAGE is our character trait of the month. We define courage as the ability to stand up for what is right - not just for ourselves, but for others as well. For our students, this may look like helping a friend who is being treated unfairly or speaking up for themselves when they feel wronged, in a confident yet respectful way. Courage also takes compassion, which is a trait we are learning about in our social-emotional lessons this month. Compassion is "empathy in action". We notice and understand how someone feels and then do something to help them. Having compassion encourages students to see different points of view and helps develop stronger relationships.
