Education

I received my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and received an approval to teach Early Childhood Special Education in 2007. After my first year of teaching, I received my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and English as a Second Language in 2010 and received my Bilingual Spanish endorsement that same year. In 2012, I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of a Doctorate in Early Childhood Education and I achieved this in 2017. I love learning and I am amazed at how much I learn on a daily basis from my students.

Educación

Recibí mi Bachillerato in la educación temprana con un aprobación para enseñar educación especial en la educación temprana en 2007. Después de mi primer año de ensenar, recibí mi Maestría en Curriculum and Instruction con inglés como segundo lenguaje en 2010 y recibí otra aprobación como maestra bilingüe en español. En 2012, decidí perseguir mi sueno de un Doctorado en la educación temprana y lo logre en 2017. Me encanta aprender y me encanta ver lo tanto que aprendo diario de mis estudiantes.

Mission Statement

We believe that all students, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners, can be successful when taught by teachers knowledgeable of college-readiness standards and who differentiate instruction to challenge and promote critical thinking.

Our Preschool Program

The Federico Garcia Lorca early childhood Ready to Learn preschool program offers an engaging and inviting environment for children ages 3- and 4-years old. Our onsite, high-quality program follows the school’s vision that all children, regardless of age, ability, and language can achieve their full potential with the support of their highly-qualified teachers, in partnership with the families.

At Lorca, we believe in the power of student-first and standard-based learning. Our program offers two preschool classrooms that are full-day in length. One of our classrooms offers Bilingual instruction for our English Learners and our other classroom follows an English as a Second Language model in order to support all of our diverse learners. In addition, not only does our early childhood program believe in the power of creating an academically stimulating environment for our students, we also believe in the necessity of providing a strong social and emotional base for all of our learners. We currently follow a standards-based, academic curriculum, The Creative Curriculum, and a wonderful social and emotional curriculum, Second Step to support our instruction. We offer engaging and motivating self-directed activities, as we strongly believe that the whole child should be developed.

Our collaboration with the families is important as we host parent and family workshops 8-10 times a school year. In partnership with the families, we work together to challenge and promote critical thinking and strong social skills within our students. We believe that all children are capable of incredible and wondrous things.

Nuestro Programa Preescolar

El programa de educación temprana y preescolar Ready to Learn de Federico García Lorca ofrece un ambiente divertido y educativo para niños de edades 3 y 4. Nuestras clases de alta calidad siguen la visión de la escuela que todos los niños, independientemente de su edad, capacidad y lenguaje puede alcanzar su máximo potencial con el apoyo de sus profesores de altas cualificaciones, en colaboración con sus familias.

En Lorca, creemos en el poder de poner a los niños primeros en su aprendizaje mientras siguiendo los estándares del estado. Nuestro programa ofrece dos salones preescolares con grupos que asisten todo el día. Un salón ofrece enseñanza bilingüe y el otro salón sigue el modelo de inglés como segundo lenguaje para apoyar a todos los niños diversos. Además, no solamente creemos en el poder de crear un ambiente académico estimulante para nuestros estudiantes, también creemos en la necesidad de proveer una fuerte base social y emocional para todos los estudiantes. Usamos un currículo académico que sigue las normas del estado de Illinois, El Currículo Creativo y un currículo social y emocional llamado Second Step para apoyar nuestra enseñanza. Ofrecemos actividades que estimulan y motivan que los niños pueden elegir y dirigir, como nuestra filosofía apoya que el niño entero debe de ser desarrollado.

​ Nuestras colaboraciones con las familias son importantes y tratamos de tener actividades de padre e hijo, talleres y juntas 8-10 veces al año escolar. En colaboración con las familias, trabajamos juntos para retar y promover pensamiento crítico y características sociales independientes, fuertes y positivas en nuestros estudiantes. Creemos que todos los niños son capaces de crear cosas increíbles y maravillosas.
