NEWS FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE MONTESSORI MIDDLE SCHOOL weekly updates on what's going on in the community

Last week, the Middle Schoolers presented on events that happened during the Westward Expansion time period. One student, Emma, did an interactive presentation about the California Gold Rush. We gathered around the tables in the science classroom and learned how to pan gold. After the presentation, we tried to do it ourselves, using screws as gold.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays the Middle Schoolers go to gym at the YMCA and meet our teachers, Carroll and Alex. In gym we have a variety of different units. On Thursdays we have a fitness day with our fitness teacher Roman. We have recently finished our floor hockey unit. We have completed other activities such as basketball, soccer, and baseball. We are currently between units, so we are playing a variety of dodge ball games. For our warm ups we have enjoyed facing each other in dual ball. This is a game where we all stand in a circle, and two people are in the middle. We try to get the two people out by hitting them with a huge yoga ball. We all have fun in gym even though some of us are not so athletic.

The eBay Committee has spent the last week polishing silver and silverplate antiques donated by the Kulles. The Kulles were kind enough to donate more than $1,000 dollars of silver items to the eBay Store. We have almost finished polishing all the items, and we have already listed three items on eBay.

Please email CountrysideEbay@gmail.com if you would like to sell any items in the following categories: musical instruments, electronics, collectibles, or jewellery and watches. The email should contain the category, the name of the item, and if possible, a picture and price range.

This week, the Middle School students have started preparing for the opera of 2017 which is Persephone. It is a Greek myth about the seasons and Persephone who gets kidnapped by Hades, and is taken to the underworld. The Middle Schoolers have started gathering all of the props for certain characters. The opera auditions are on Monday, March 6th. We are excited to see all of the elementary students singing and dancing.
