Mark Seliger Celebrity Portraites

Seliger was born in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Maurice and Carol Lee. (born 1959)

Mark is known as an American photographer noted for his portraiture. But also landscapes, still life, fashion, documentary and nudes.

He mainly photographed celebrities.

Seliger began working for Rolling Stone in 1987, and served as its chief photographer from 1992 to 2002

“The light is built in order to follow the subject.”, says Seliger. In the first image that they shot, they used a Softbox RFi 5′ Octa, a Pro Head and a Pro-8 and placed it to the left of Lenny Kravitz.

He uses a medium format you can get lens compression for a shallower depth-of-field.

Mark looked up to the following photographers like Arnold Newman, Robert Frank, Cartier-Bresson, Edward Weston and Paul Caponigro.

I enjoy Mark Seligers photography because it shows unique poses and tells a story.
