Path UME is back in full swing, working with medical students in person again. By the end of December, we will have 13 major lab experiences completed, primarily for the Metabolism & Reproduction and Circulation, Respiration, & Regulation courses with the second-year medical student cohort. Thank you to the many faculty and residents who have contributed their expertise!
MedEdMorphosis
The MedEdMorphosis curriculum redesign process is moving forward with a goal of implementation in the 2023-24 academic year. Recently, several Pathology faculty and staff participated in the ‘Envisioning the Forest’ working teams, which presented their ideas to the School of Medicine decision-making team on November 4.
As we move forward from the “what” to the “how”, we will need input from faculty. Look out for additional opportunities to contribute – faculty from all divisions are encouraged to participate, as we anticipate potential changes to both clinical and research student rotations alike.
Spring Labs
We also welcome faculty and resident participation in our upcoming labs – we will need facilitators for our labs for the Molecules, Cells, & Cancer and Host & Defense courses throughout the spring months. In particular, we will need double the facilitators for our March 23 lab on transplant immunology from 10-10:50 am. If you are interested in helping with this or any other opportunities, please contact Dr. Angelica Putnam or Kali Korbis.
Student Interest Group
The Pathology Student Interest Group had its annual lunch panel event on November 12. Faculty, residents, and our post-sophomore fellow joined the students for a short presentation, discussion, and Q&A session about pathology as a career pathway and residency/fellowship opportunities available in the field. Thank you to all who attended and contributed their expertise!
