The world of retail is a vast environment with tons of opportunities to learn, grow, and become a leader, as #LifeAtMacys is more than just selling pants and sweaters.
Meet Fran, Talent Acquisition Manager and this is her #LifeAtMacys…
What does your role at Macy’s entail?
I recruit people to work for Macy’s for all levels of positions within our Corporate Services group. I support various internal client groups by introducing exceptional external talent to a career with Macy’s.
What’s a typical day look like for you?
For me, a typical day is coming in and checking the status of open positions that I’m recruiting for. Throughout the day, some of my responsibilities include acting as a connector between hiring managers and candidates, ensuring that Macy’s is providing a great candidate experience, and reviewing resumes.
What opportunities to grow in your career or as a leader has Macy’s offered you?
I currently lead an Employee Resource Group, FITFluence, and participate in other leadership activities throughout the building, including community service with Partners in Time, Magic of Mentoring, and United Way. These leadership opportunities have contributed to the growth of my professional network, outside of my department.
How does Macy’s make it easy for you balance life and work?
Macy’s allows me to incorporate my life into my work. In addition to being a recruiter, I’m a yoga teacher. For the month of January 2017, I was able to teach 4 yoga classes for employees at Macy’s Corporate Services. I started as an intern completing my undergraduate degree, and throughout the 3 years, I’ve been at Macy’s, I’ve been able to pursue and complete my 9 month Yoga teacher training program, conduct community service abroad and obtain my Master’s degree.
