MEGARIDE applied vehicle research

MegaRide project is linked to the activities carried out by the Vehicle Dynamics research group of the Department of Industrial Engineering (DII) of University of Naples , whose expertise is oriented to the development of models to be employed by vehicle manufacturers, tire developers, dynamicists and race engineers.

The main goal of research activities is a better comprehension of all the physical phenomena concerning Vehicle Dynamics and, in particular, tire/road interaction.

Gaze is focused on the following main targets:

To deeply investigate each aspect of the tire dynamical behaviour and its influence upon the entire vehicle

To define innovative procedures and algorithms for data processing and physical comprehension

To develop real-time solutions for simulation able to predict physics and guide strategic decisions


The most important tool is T.R.I.C.K. (Tire/Road Interaction Characterization & Knowledge)

Based on a vehicle model, able to process signals, acquired from sensor during outdoor sessions, the tool provides the tire interactions, characteristic curves as an output, allowing to carry out handling and performances analyses employing the whole vehicles as a sort of moving lab

The second most important Megaride's app is AdheRIDE!

Physical-analytical tire grip model whose aim is to satisfy motorsport and tiremakers requests by providing the local friction coefficient taking into account sliding velocity and contact pressure.


Friday, December 2, 2016 have been named the winners of the XIV edition of the National Award for Innovation (PNI), the largest Italian business plan competition, hosted this year by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia
