Rapid Industrial Development BY: ZAC DUNITZ hour 2

Was Rapid Industrial Development a "blessing" or a "curse"?

Ever since the south blew up with cotton they have been making a lot of factories, and money from the economy. They also have had many more railroad tracks to get all the Irish immigrants to the cities, and that also increases the rivers for the new invention of "Steamboats". So Rapid Industrial Development has been a blessing for these 3 reasons, There was new Machines/Technology inventions, they invented steamboats, and there was a lot of new jobs for women and all the Irish/german immigrants who came to the U.S.

New Inventions/Technology

This photo above is the telegraph. Thus was one of the many invention they made for this time period. This was a major one because it made people be able to talk/send a message in a few minutes rather than days. The next invention is the cotton gen. The cotton gen was made by a man named Eli Whitney. This cotton gin was a gift to all people who owned land. Once they got this they were productions cotton to sell it in no time. From 1793-1800 the production of cotton barrels each year WAS 3,000, but ever since whitneys invention it rose to about 73,000.

Steamboats in the world at this time were HUGE. They were a pretty big size and since the rivers got expanded they had many steamboats on the river at once. Steamboats were invented by a man named Robert Fulton. Many major cities were wealthy ports for the boats because it had all the factories in the actual city. For the many of immigrants, which is our next topic

Irish/german immigrants

Irish immigration sounds like a bad thing but it was actually one of the best things that could of happened. Since Irish immigrants back at there home were struggling to get food. So they came here on boat and that helped us because we made all these factories for cotton, etc. and we didn't have enough Americans to fill them. So once the Irish came we could feed them. They would work for us, and get money. While also being able to get an apartment. Then a while after Irish came German came along. So that made it even more compact in factories having the Americans, Germans, and Irish's all in one building. But overall it was a blessing cause it meaner that there would be more money from all the workers making the cotton items, and other things.
