Dear Girl Scouts, Supporters and Friends,

2020 was a unique year filled with uncertainty and change and Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri was quick to respond.

As girls and their families adjusted to a new way of life, we joined together to find new and creative solutions to reach all girls, everywhere. Girl Scout staff worked to create brand new virtual and hybrid programs with a focus on STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and leadership. These programs offered families the opportunity to explore, learn and connect from the safety of their homes.

Girl Scouts has always been a force for good. As our organization responded to our communities’ needs, so did our girls. Even during such unprecedented times, they continued to give back by earning Girl Scouts’ highest awards and participating in virtual community service projects. In so many ways, we discovered that girl power can’t be quarantined!

While many things have changed this year, the support that Girl Scouts offers our families and communities has not waivered. Our 2020 Report to the Community covers the incredible stories of our remarkable Girl Scouts and volunteers. They accomplished a great deal in a year that we will never forget!

Providing the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in Unprecedented Times

Without a doubt, every Girl Scout in eastern Missouri showed resilience, courage and innovation during 2020. As girls adjusted to virtual learning, limited access to social engagements, and cancellation of extra-curricular activities, it became more important than ever for Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri to find creative and inventive ways to bring the best leadership development programs to all girls in our region.

Issues of the world, meet your match. For more than 100 years, Girl Scouts have stepped up in times of crisis and turmoil. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, eastern Missouri Girl Scouts continued to take charge--determined to do their part in making the world a better, more positive place.

Troop Evolution

Throughout 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused immeasurable stress, loss and isolation, but Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri adult volunteers persevered. It was a daily focus for the Girl Scout volunteers to provide girls with a virtual, socially distanced, and safe space of their own to learn and grow. With this guidance, Girl Scouts were able to feel secure, while they explored new passions and discovered their true leadership potential.
