The Artist: Donna Nelson

Originally from Kansas City, Donna spent much of her childhood traveling with her parents, which awoke in her a desire to travel and see the world.

She studied at Southern Methodist University, married and had a son. She loved mountain climbing and began in the Colorado Rockies. Eventually, she learned to fly with her husband and together they experienced adventures in remote areas in Mexico, Central and South America and the Virgin Islands.

In 1979 she visited the Himalayas for three months. Her world expanded and focused her attention in the people in relationship to their environment, both spiritual and physical. She lectured on life in The Himalayas with the Council of World Affairs Distinguished Lecture Series.

Donna turned to Mexico for inspiration. Her work is full of passion and emotional insight.
