Final Events For Read Across America Week
THURSDAY 3/7: Whoville hair day (this seems unfair for some of us)! Wear your hair like the Whos and read Horton Hears a Who!
FRIDAY 3/8: Read Across America Day! Come read a story with your child’s class and put on your craziest reading cap! PLUS, in order to make up for Monday's snow day, feel free to wear your favorite PJs too!
ALiCE Parent Information Night/Morning
On Monday, March 18th at 6:00PM we will be holding a parent/guardian only information session regarding our upcoming ALiCE drill at JRB. Those in attendance will learn about the many ways we will be preparing our students to respond in the event of an unsafe school environment. We will also preview our in-class presentation to the students using the book I'm Not Scare, I'm Prepared for grades K-3, as well as a more straight forward conversation with the 4th and 5th graders. The same session will be conducted again on Tuesday, March 19th at 9:00AM. Both events will take place in the JRB cafeteria.
April and May bring along our MCAS assessments for grades 3, 4, and 5. In order to plan as far in advance as possible, here are the proposed session dates for 2019.
- Grade 5- Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 11.
- Grade 4- Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24.
- Grade 3- Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26.
- Grade 5- Tuesday, April 30th and Wednesday, May 1.
- Grade 4- Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3.
- Grade 3- Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8.
Science and Technology
- Grade 5- Thursday, May 9 and Friday May 10.
There are many schedule alterations that take place during these dates, but most of them are simply switch lunch/recess times or the time that grade levels have special classes.
Many of our musicians and vocalists are working hard to prepare for the district wide concert dates that are coming up this spring. All concerts take place in the Oakmont Auditorium.
- DISTRICT BAND NIGHT at OAKMONT Thurs., 3/21/19 at 6:30pm.
- DISTRICT CHORAL NIGHT at OAKMONT Thurs., 3/28/19 at 6:30pm.
- DISTRICT JAZZ NIGHT at OAKMONT Thurs., 4/11/19 at 6:30pm.

Stories From Your Dog?
Mrs. Fluet will be collecting letters to mail to Emma Mertens, from people's dogs (see link below), in memory of our former student Kate Arpano who passed away from DIPG in January of 2016. Kate's birthday is March 13th. Please have letters to her by Monday 3/11. You can bring them to the front office for collection.
