Lyon County is located in the North West part of Iowa. In 1915 Lyon county built a new court house for $107,000. It was once occupied by Sioux Indians. The population of Lyon county is currently 11,712. Used to be apart of Wood Berry county. Buncombe county was the original county, but then it was soon changed to Lyon. Dc white Head, named the town Rock Rapids.

Brigadier General Natheniel Lyon was the man who the people thought should represent their county name. The first settlement built was in 1871 by Lewis P. Hyde. Some cities that are there now are inwood, little rock, George, and Doon.

I think that this little county is something important in our state. Every county is equally as important. I think this would be a nice community to live in. From Albia to Rock Rapids it is a 5 hour and 7 minutes drive. The coordants are 43.3954° N, 96.1527° W.,_Iowa
