“Fireworks” by Fall Out Boy

(You and I were, you and I were fire.

You and I were, you and I were fire.

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fire)

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

That went off too soon

And I miss you in the June gloom, too

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

I said I'd never miss you

But I guess you never know

May the bridges I have burned light my way back home

On the fourth of July

I'll be as honest as you let me

I miss your early morning company

If you get me

You are my favorite "what if"

You are my best "I'll never know"

And I'm starting to forget

Just what summer ever meant to you

What did it ever mean to you?

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean any of it

I just got too lonely, lonely, whoa

In between being young and being right

You were my Versailles at night

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

That went off too soon

And I miss you in the June gloom, too

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

I said I'd never miss you

But I guess you never know

May the bridges I have burned light my way back home

On the fourth of July

My 9 to 5 is cutting open old scars

Again and again 'til I'm stuck in your head

Had my doubts, but I let them out

You are the drought

And I'm the holy water you have been without

And all my thoughts of you

They could heat or cool the room

And no, don't tell me you're crying

Oh, honey, you don't have to lie

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean any of it

I just got too lonely, lonely, whoa

In between being young and being right

You were my Versailles at night

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

That went off too soon

And I miss you in the June gloom, too

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

I said I'd never miss you

But I guess you never know

May the bridges I have burned light my way back home

On the fourth of July

I wish I'd known how much you loved me

I wish I cared enough to know

I'm sorry every song's about you

The torture of small talk with someone you used to love

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

That went off too soon

And I miss you in the June gloom, too

It was the fourth of July

You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks

I said I'd never miss you

But I guess you never know

May the bridges I have burned light my way back home

On the fourth of July

1."It was the fourth of July" was comparing the fourth of July to their event. The fourth of July is a holiday that is full of happiness, colors, memories, and exciting. This means that their event mimics what happens on the fourth of July.

2.You and I were Fireworks This is comparing the two peoples relationships to fireworks. Fireworks takeover the night sky on the fourth of July bursting into colors, noise, and brightness. This is how he was describing their relationship that was a hit right of the bat.

"Stronger" by Kanye West

N-now th-that that don't kill me

Can only make me stronger

I need you to hurry up now

'Cause I can't wait much longer

I know I got to be right now

'Cause I can't get much wronger

Man I've been waiting all night now

That's how long I been on ya

I need you right now

Let's get lost tonight

You could be my black Kate Moss tonight

Play secretary, I'm the boss tonight

And you don't give a fuck what they all say, right?

Awesome, the Christian in Christian Dior

Damn, they don't make em like this anymore

I ask, cause I'm not sure:

Do anybody make real shit anymore?

Bow in the presence of greatness

'Cause right now thou hast forsaken us

You should be honored by my lateness

That I would even show up to this fake shit

So go ahead, go nuts, go apeshit

Specially on my Pastel, on my Bape shit

Act like you can't tell who made this

New Gospel homey, take six and take this, haters

N-now th-that that don't kill me

Can only make me stronger

I need you to hurry up now

'Cause I can't wait much longer

I know I got to be right now

'Cause I can't get much wronger

Man I've been waiting all night now

That's how long I been on ya

I need you right now

I don't know if you got a man or not

If you made plans or not

God put me in the plans or not

I'm tripping, this drink got me saying a lot

But I know that God put you in front of me

So how the hell could you front on me?

There's a thousand yous, there's only one of me

I'm tripping, I'm caught up in the moment, right?

'Cause it's Louis Vuitton Don night

So we gonna do everything that Kan like

Heard they'd do anything for a Klondike

Well, I'd do anything for a blonde dyke

And she'll do anything for the limelight

And will do anything when the time's right

Uh, baby you're makin' it (harder, better, faster, stronger)

N-now th-that that don't kill me

Can only make me stronger

I need you to hurry up now

'Cause I can't wait much longer

I know I got to be right now

'Cause I can't get much wronger

Man I've been waiting all night now

That's how long I been on ya

I need you right now

You know how long I've been on ya?

Since Prince was on Apollonia

Since O.J. had isotoners

Don't act like I never told ya

N-now th-that that don't kill me

Can only make me stronger

I need you to hurry up now

'Cause I can't wait much longer

I know I got to be right now

'Cause I can't get much wronger

Man I've been waiting all night now

That's how long I been on ya

I need you right now

You know how long I've been on ya?

Since Prince was on Apollonia

Since O.J. had isotoners

Don't act like I never told ya

You know how long I've been on ya?

Since Prince was on Apollonia

Since O.J. had isotoners

Don't act like I never told ya

Allusions in "Stronger"

1. "When OJ had isotoners" isotoner is a company of gloves and shoes which was an important part of the OJ trial because of the glove with blood found and the rarity of shoes which made the foot prints at the crime scene.

2."since prince was on Apollonia" this part is referring to a person named Apollonia Kotero who is an american actress, singer, former model, and manager. She is known for co-starring in Prince's film purple rain in 1984.

“Show goes on” by lupe fiasco

Written by Isaac Brock, Eric Judy, Dann Gallucci, Jonathan Brown, Daniel Johnson, Wasalu Jaco, Dustin Bower

La-ser

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder, when they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder, when they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

Have you ever had the feeling

That you was being had

Don't that that make you mad

They treat you like a slave,

With chains all on your soul,

And put whips up on your back,

They be lying through they teeth

Hope you slip up off your path

I don't switch up I just laugh

Put my kicks up on they desk

Unaffected by they threats

Than get busy on they

See that's how that Chi-Town made me

That's how my daddy raised me

That glittering may not be gold,

Don't let nobody play me

If you are my homeboy,

You never have to pay me

Go on and put your hands up,

When times are hard you stand up

L-U-P the man, 'cause a brand that the fans trust

So even if they ban us

They'll never slow my plans up!

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder,

When they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder,

When they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

One in the air for the people that ain't here

Two in the air for the father that's there

Three in the air for the kids in the ghetto

Four for the kids who don't wanna be there

None for thetrying to hold them back

Five in the air for the teacher not scared

to tell those kids that's living in the ghetto

That the holdin' back that the world is theirs!

Yeah yeah, the world is yours,

I was once that little boy

Terrified of the world

Now I'm on a world tour

I will give up everything,

Even start a world war

For these ghettos girls and boys I'm rapping round' the world for!

Africa to New York,

Haiti then I detour,

Oakland out to Auckland

Gaza Strip to Detroit,

Say hip-hop only destroy

Tell em' look at me, boy!

I hope your son don't have a gun and never be a D-boy

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder,

When they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder,

When they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

So no matter what you been through

No matter what you into

No matter what you see

when you look outside your window

Brown grass or green grass

Picket fence or barbed wire

Never ever put them down

You just lift your arms higher

Raise 'em 'til your arms tired

Let em' know you're there

That you struggling and survivin'

That you gonna persevere yeah,

Ain't no body leavin',

No body goin' home

Even if they turn the lights out the show is goin' on!

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder,

When they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

Alright, already the show goes on

All night, till the morning we dream so long

Anybody ever wonder,

When they would see the sun up

Just remember when you come up

The show goes on!

Imagery in "Show goes on"

1. “Kicks up on they desk” The sensory experience is the sight of him putting his feet up on the desk to show them how he feels. He is trying to get the message across that the hateful comments don’t get to him and he still is “the boss”

2."No matter what you see when you look outside your window Brown grass or green grass Picket fence or barbed wire" The sensory felt is sight of two choices that society would see as good or bad. He is trying to tell us whatever we see in our situation... the show goes on.

Self written Poem "jealousy is a highly infectious disease"

Jealousy is something that will eventually infect everyone.

Jealousy can make someone do evil things just to boost themselves.

Jealousy is a bandaid that makes the pain go away and fixes the problem for a short time.

It sheilds us from our true feelings for the time being.

then we will eventually buckle under the pressure and our emotions will pour out like the the hoover dam breaking.

Jealousy is an ugly trait that makes us broken as a person.

it is like pain tolerence; some just can't take it and the desire to want something you don't have but others do overcomes us.

Jealousy is a root to destruction of relationships.

Leaving that person to wonder how a simple act of jealousy can have two people acting like strangers.

Symptoms of jealousy don't show until it is too late and something fetal to the friendship has happened.

Jealousy is a silent murderer of friendships.
