On May 8, 2018, Marion County residents will have the opportunity to VOTE YES to continue their support of many levy-funded parks and programs. For just pennies per $100 of assessed valuation of taxable property, citizens can show their support for the parks and programs that have come to mean so much to the community.

MCPARC's MISSION

The Marion County Parks and Recreation Commission (MCPARC) strives to improve the lives of all Marion County residents by providing quality recreational facilities and programs.

SUPPORT PARKS AND POOLS AND MORE

MCPARC maintains and operates many area parks and pools, including:

  • East Marion Park and Wave Pool
  • Palatine Park and Sprayground
  • Mary Lou Retton Youth Park
  • 12th Street Pool
  • For the Kids Soccer Complex
  • Worthington Park
  • Hutchinson Park
  • Guyses Run Fishing Park
  • Curtisville Lake and Campground

SUPPORT FOR PLAYGROUND PROGRAMS

MCPARC offers a free, six-week summer camp providing recreational activities and free lunches for more than 250 kids at 8 sites county-wide:

  • 5th Street Park
  • Windmill Park
  • Montana Mines
  • Barrackville
  • Farmington
  • Grant Town
  • Mannington
  • Fairview

SUPPORT FOR LOCAL SPORTS AND SCHOOLS

MCPARC maintains facilities and provides support for a multitude of athletic programs, including:

  • Fairmont Little League
  • Marion County Girls Softball
  • F.O.P. Youth Football
  • Marion County Youth Soccer Association
  • 612 MAC Bulldogs
  • Marion County Fringe Little League

Additionally, MCPARC assists local schools with improvements to fields, gyms, and playgrounds. Projects include:

  • Construction of an outdoor basketball court at Barrackville Elementary School
  • Construction of a playground at Jayenne Elementary School
  • Assisted with the installation of ADA-compliant playground equipment at Watson Elementary School
  • Construction of a playground and basketball court at West Fairmont Middle School
  • Improvements to Barnes ALC Gym
  • Improvements to East Fairmont High School's baseball and softball field

SUPPORT FOR SPECIAL EVENTS

MCPARC provides support for a variety of special events, including:

  • Run to Read 5K and Half Marathon
  • The Feast of the Seven Fishes
  • Monongahfest
  • Morris Park Celebration of Lights
  • Project Graduation
  • Christmas parades in Fairmont, Barrackville, Farmington, and Fairview
  • 4th of July celebrations in Fairmont, Rivesville, and Fairview
  • Disc golf tournaments at Morris Park

MCPARC employs 10 full-time staff members, and more than 115 seasonal employees in the summer months. MCPARC provides vital programs and services to the residents and municipalities of Marion County, WV.
