A Wander in the Woods Hookstone Woods, Harrogate

For the past year or so, I've been spending time in my local woods. Its only 5 minutes from home, and not very big. Its used by dog walkers, but mostly passed by.

The joy is spending an hour or two wandering about with no real aim, but a hope of capturing something of the essence of the place. Always feel refreshed after a visit.

It sits between houses on 2 sides, a school on another and the Great Yorkshire Showground.

I didn't realise how much the sounds of the wood influence my ability to take images. On one day there was an event at the showground which had sirens going off every few minutes - it made it impossible to take any reasonable pictures.

Always evidence left behind ...

Its a never ending project that gives me a lot of pleasure. I hope that Ive captured some of the essence of the wood with these images.
