Staples boys' soccer fight back in Wilton rematch By Madeline Michalowski '22

The Staples boys' varsity soccer team tied Wilton 1-1 on Monday, Oct. 12 at home. They recently came off a 4-0 loss against the Warriors.

The defeat on Oct. 7 led to a spark in the Wreckers who looked to make a comeback as they warmed up on Wakeman Field to replay the Wilton Warriors.
Staples got off to a solid offensive start with lots of energy and shots on goal from Haydn Siroka '21, George Smith '21 and Alan Fiore '21.

With 18:04 left in the first half, left winger Fiore '21 was SUCCESSFUL at goal making the score 1-0 Wreckers going into the second half.

With time ticking down, the visitors were able to equalize on Staples' goalkeeper Enzo Valadares '21 with 27:25 remaining in the game.
The Wreckers maintained lively play and hopeful energy throughout both halves but they were unable to score again. The clock ran out to end the game with a tie 1-1.
Despite not securing a win yet this season, Staples is optimistic about their next match on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Ridgefield. The game will begin at 4:30 and can be livestreamed here.
