1. Redeemers: tried to restore the Democratic Party

2. Segregation: forced separation of people of different races

3. Jim Crow laws: a law that was about segregation

4. Tenant farmers: people who rent lad to grow crops

5. Sharecroppers: farmers that shared resources with other farmers

6. A new constitution was written in 1875

7. The constitution was not allowed to go $200,000 into debt

8. Before 1897 at least one African american served in every Texas legislature but one

9. It became illegal for Mexicans and African Americans to eat at certain restraints

10. Many freed people in texas couldn't afford land
