5/6 Canberra Trip 2017 April 3-5

Day 1

Off We Go!!!!

At 6:30ish we started up the bus and headed off on our journey to Canberra. The kids were fantastic on the way down setting the tone, hopefully, for a great time.

On our stop at McDonalds, due to weather, we were lucky enough to share Srujana's birthday with a gigantic cake.

The trip down proved a little too much for some though.

Year 6 Riding Around Lake Burley Griffen

Year 6 students kicked off their trip with a great 7.88km ride up and down the lake. They had heaps of run and rode so well

Horse riding was sort of scary for some, but as they braved the challenge they found the courage and had an enjoyable time.

Students learnt a lot about the history of currency here in Australia.

Together Again at the AIS

Both grades joined back together again to have a guided tour of the AIS facility's. Students enjoyed watching some gymnastic training, volleyball training and the pool. This was capped off with 40mins in the Sportex facility where the kids can compete against each other in a variety of fun activities.

Day 2

Breakfast and Worship

After a 6:00 wake up call the students did a great job getting ready and tidying up their cabins, yes parents it can happen. A hearty breakfast was had and Worship with Pr Richie set the tone for an amazing day at Parliament House, The War Memorial, Questacon and Laser Tag. A huge day ahead.

This morning students went on a short tour though Parliament House. Spending time in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. They then went into separate rooms and had a role-play experiencing introducing and debating a new bill into the House of Representatives.

Year 5 & 6 spent a somber afternoon reflecting on and learning about the wars fought and lives lost over the years.

Questacon & Laser Tag

What a great way to cap off anamazing day. Everyone had so much fun exploring all the different experiments and activities at Questacon. Then over to Zone 3 for Lasertag, pizza and arcade games for 2 hours of non-stop fun.

Day 3

Year 6 Old Parliament House

Year 6 explored to history of Australian Parliament at the Old Parliament House. Students got to sit in the seats of the old House of Representatives.

Currently we are expecting a 7:00pm arrival back at school. Please stand back until your child has both their bags to create space as we want to get your child back you asap.
