FPAN and FCO join forces: site monitoring in aquatic preserves

Florida Public Archaeology Network

  • FPAN: promote and facilitate the stewardship public appreciation and value of Florida
  • Accotate with USF FAU UWF FCO where they get there budget
  • There are 8 regions in total divided up through Florida
  • Education--understanding, understanding--appreciation, appreciation-- preservation
  • All of this brings total of 6 billion dollars to Florida
  • Creates 100,000 jobs
  • Gave out 17 million dollars in grants
  • There are a total of 41 aquatic places
  • We manage 2 of 41 ( big bend seagrauses, st. Martins marsh )
  • 4 million acres in total
  • Monitoring program consist of mapping, background research, fieldwork, etc


Rather than screening and labeling bags this week Isaac and I spent time with Dr. Butler mapping the east west wall and working on the feature forms.
