CSCSHC Community Newsletter APRIL 5, 2019

Welcome to the CSCSHC Community Newsletter. This bimonthly publication is intended to keep you up-to-date with all that is happening in and around the school district. We want to share all the great things our staff and students are doing in our classrooms and community. We look forward to sharing our stories of student success, achievement, participation in arts and athletics, and a commitment to philanthropy. We are "New Pal Proud" of our students for achieving their personal best in pursuit of excellence!

Message from the Superintendent

Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope all of our students and families had a relaxing and fun two weeks off.

We kicked off our 2019-2020 enrollment period last night with a fun evening at our annual Kindergarten Roundup.

Kindergarten Roundup 2019

If someone you know is planning to attend Southern Hancock in the 2019-20 school year, please direct them to our Enrollment page or call the school their student would attend in '19-20. If you missed Kindergarten Roundup last night, you can still register for Kindergarten by visiting your child's future elementary school.

Finally, I would like to remind you that our ILEARN testing window opens later this month. Please make sure that your student gets plenty of rest, has a good breakfast on test day, and has positive support at home. Encouragement goes a long way!

- Dr. Lisa Lantrip

Did You Know?

The district recently received nearly $150,000 in grants from the Indiana Department of Education. CSCSHC was one of 48 districts statewide to receive the DOE's Digital Learning Grant. This $50,000 grant will be used for additional STEM and project-based learning materials in all of our K-12 classrooms.

CSCSHC was also one of just nine districts in Indiana to receive a High Ability Grant from the DOE worth nearly $75,000. This grant, which is more than double our annual funding for high ability, will help our teachers with development opportunities and new classroom materials.

Summer Enrichment Registration Continues

Still looking for those summer plans for your K-8 student? Our twelve Summer Enrichment Camps are OPEN for registration.

New this year, CSCSHC is happy to announce a partnership with the YMCA for child care throughout the summer, including for our Summer Enrichment camps. If you use the YMCA before/after care during the school year, you can now continue that throughout the summer. If you're interested in registering for the summer, or just for one week during Summer Enrichment, visit this link.

Summer Sports Camps

The NPHS Athletic Office is happy to once again offer their full slate of summer sports camps. Our HS basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and wrestling coaches will offer camps throughout June and July for K-8 students. Each camp costs $35.

Veterans Panel at NPHS

A group of NPHS students recently had the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of local military veterans. The students learned about what led these veterans to serve, challenges and sacrifices of service, and opportunities in the military. This panel tied in with lessons about World War II and the Band of Brothers series.

Thank you to these veterans for joining us and thank you for your service!
