The Pre-Hispanic City and National Park of Palenque is covered with different kind of temples that were built by the Mayans. Each of the temples represents something different that meant a lot to the Mayans. For example, the biggest temple was for the ahaw, meaning the lord, who represented as a intermediary between the people and the gods. There are still temples being discovered and finding out what they represent. Researchers have been able to answer much about the site, such as how they were made, who were they for? And what are they for?
A prime example of a Mayan sanctuary of the classical period, the Palenque was at its height between AD 500 and 700, when its influence extended throughout basin of Usumacinta River. The elegance and craftsmanship of the buildings, as well as the lightness of sculpted reliefs with the Mayan mythological themes, and attest to the creative genius of this civilization.
If the Pre-Hispanic City and National Park of Palenque were not protected or neglected the place will be covered by the forest, damage, thing being stolen, etc. The temples will be cover with grass and moses were you won’t tell what it is no more or barely see it. Not only the temples be covered by grass and all,but become a mountain or hills that no one will know that they are temples. Each temple will be covered where you can't see what they are nor see what is truly is there.
