Project Creators - Natalie, Richard, Kariann, Delaney, and Amyah
“I met and married an American. I love my family. I miss my mother and sister terribly.”

Victoria immigrated to the United States from England. Her home country was a lot like Connecticut, which is where Victoria lives now. The only difference is it gets a little hotter and colder in Connecticut than in England. Victoria’s mom, daughter, and sister still lives in Leigh Lancashire, England. In England, Victoria had a horse and did Equestrian horseback riding, which was a hobby she really enjoyed.

Victoria decided to come to America because she had married an American. She had to wait a year and a half to immigrate to America. Finally at age 34, Victoria was able to immigrate to America. In 2013 she took a plane ride to America and she had to leave her family and her horse Olive, behind. She misses them very much, but is glad that she is able to use technology to communicate with them.

Victoria's home town (Leigh) is 384 miles northwest of London.

When Victoria first came to America she thought the country was large and chilly. Victoria was treated pleasantly, made friends, and even got a job. When she came to the United States she stayed at her husband’s house. Victoria works at a tattoo parlor and in the future she hopes to open her own antique shop and bring her daughter to the United States.

The climates in Leigh Lancashire and New London, CT share many similarities. They both acquire precipitation yearly and have four seasons. Although New London has a colder average temperature than Leigh they share similar temperature ranges. New London also has higher summer temperatures. Another similarity is their biome type, they are both mild. Precipitation appears in all forms over the two cities throughout the year but they acquire the most precipitation during separate months. Immigrating from Leigh, Lancashire to New London, CT would produce challenges, but there would be no noticeable change in climate.

Victoria faces many challenges as an immigrant. One challenge she faces it that every two years she had to redo her immigration paperwork to live in the United States. Victoria works hard because she wants to continue to have a successful life in America, and she wants to be with her family.
