Roger Chiang has nearly twenty-five years of production experience in government, politics, television, radio, digital, podcasting and film. Currently, Roger is the Director of Content Production for KQED, Northern California’s public media station and member station for both PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) and NPR (National Public Radio).
Roger will talk about KQED's evolution into digital including the switch from Avid and other tools to standardize on Adobe Creative Cloud video and audio solutions, with the help of partner Evolphin.

A New Cinematic Language: The Editing of "Searching"
After graduating from USC film school, Will Merrick and Nick Johnson worked with their friend Aneesh Chaganty to edit “Searching,” a film in which the story unfolds over a series of texts, social media posts, video clips, and other on-screen apps. “Searching” premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and won the NEXT Audience Award and the Alfred P. Sloan Prize.
Will and Nick will share how they created the screens for "Searching" in Adobe Illustrator and animated them in Adobe After Effects before using Dynamic Link to easily move visual effects from After Effects to Adobe Premiere Pro.

Live Character Animation: Performing and Interacting in Real Time
KT Weber is a Los Angeles based Art Director, Motion Designer, and Illustrator with over a decade of experience. She is currently Associate Creative Director at PXL Agency, a digital marketing agency specializing in feature film campaigns. In 2018, she received a Silver Clio for her work on "Ask Sherlock Anything," a Facebook Live event to promote Paramount's "Sherlock Gnomes."
KT will discuss how she took high resolution stills of the Sherlock Gnomes character from the film and used Adobe Character Animator to create and rig a puppet for the live animated event.

Andrew Kramer is a well-known Adobe After Effects expert, host of over 160 tutorials, creator of the Element 3D & Optical Flares plug-ins, and designer of title sequences for TV's "Fringe" and the "Star Trek" films.
Andrew will share his tips and tricks on how to think in 3D inside After Effects. He'll give attendees an idea of the tools they have at their disposal and some they might need to consider.

Kyle Reiter and Ernie Gilbert are both accomplished editors. A self-taught Editor, Kyle is known for his editing work on Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” (FX), “Barry” (HBO), and “Kidding” (Showtime). He received Emmy nominations for “Atlanta” and “Barry” and won an ACE Eddie Award for “Atlanta.” Ernie’s editing experience spans television, music videos, and commercials. He was nominated in 2018 for a best editing MTV VMA for Childish Gambino’s “This is America” and has assistant edited on Emmy, Golden Globe, and Peabody award-winning shows, including “Baskets” (FX), “Atlanta” (FX), and “Barry” (HBO).
Kyle and Ernie will talk about editing "Atlanta" from a single story house in Hollywood and how Adobe Creative Cloud professional video tools enable the team to execute ideas quickly, produce seamless visual effects, and ultimately deliver a better show.

Kelley Slagle is a Director, Producer, and Editor of independent films with her company, Cavegirl Productions. Seth Polansky is an Audio Engineer, Producer, and Attorney who splits his time between his law practice and his independent film work with Cavegirl Productions. Kelley and Seth worked together on the dramedy feature film "OF DICE AND MEN” and the documentary “EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons,” which releases in May 2019.
Kelley and Seth will discuss the integrated workflow used to edit the audio and video for “EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons.”

FOX Sports: Simplifying Motion Graphics for Editorial
Sergei Prokhnevskiy is a Motion Graphics Designer, an Online Tutor, and an Entrepreneur. He and his twin brother Vladimir run an online educational site called ukramedia.com. Sergei is known for his quick and practical Adobe After Effects tips and tricks on YouTube, where he's generated over 4 million views on his tutorials. He's authored online video courses and developed scripts for After Effects. He is also a former senior motion graphics designer at Fox Sports where he worked on graphics for NFL, Super Bowl, MLB, World Series, College Football, NASCAR, Women's World Cup, and NASCAR Race Hub.
Sergei will talk about his work helping FOX Sports convert all graphics into Motion Graphics templates for NASCAR, which uses an Adobe Premiere Pro workflow. He will also share the role that Expressions in After Effects played in the transition.
