WCPS week 5 W/E 6/10/19

Wow what another crazily busy week. Children have really settled in school and I am so impressed with the progress I can already see across school.

This week we have celebrated TTrockstars day, year 2 have been to Magna and we’ve had teachers from other schools come to visit to find out how we learn!

Unfortunately we had a serious accident outside the school gates this week. Can I please remind everyone to show regard and respect for the community when using the roads and footpaths around school. Safety of our pupils and families is paramount.

Attendance is becoming a concern with a downward pattern. Please can you help school in promoting positive attendance. Don’t forget for every full week of school children earn a stamp on their attendance passport which enters them into a prize draw!

Figures this week are:

Weekly attendance continues to drop 95.1% - 0.3%
Overall attendance continues to drop 95.6% -.01%

This week alone we have had 25 single day absences throughout school. Full attendance has been gained by Class 13 and FS1PM so those classes will have a cake coming their way this afternoon!

7 children on holiday = 30 days of missed learning.

We have got a lots of parent events coming up where we are inviting you to come in to celebrate the children’s topic learning with them. Please keep your eyes open for your invitations coming through the post!

Please do come in and talk to us!

Timestables Rockstar Day was a hit with everyone 🤘🏻

We are teaching Timestables within maths lessons however perfection comes with practise so we are encouraging children to practise at home. To help you know our expectations the Timestables for each year groups are:

EYFS- begin to count in 2,5,10s

Y1- accurately count in 2,5,10s

Y2- 2,5,10 Timestables and count in 3s

Y3- 2,3,5,4,8,10 Timestables

Y4 all up to 12 Timestables

Y5 & Y6 fast recall of all Timestables and related division facts.

Throughout the day children practised and battled against each other. We saw improved scores and times throughout the day.

Thank you to all the y2 parents who have signed up and engaged with the resources.

This week’s sign of the week is October.

Magic Bagels are now available for the public to buy for the first time, and every pack sold raises money for Magic Breakfast to help supporting schools and I would really appreciate it if all Magic Breakfast schools could make all their pupils/parents/families aware of this.

Magic Bagels are now available for the public to buy from Iceland Food Warehouse stores across the country. For every pack sold, 5 pence will be donated to Magic Breakfast. Please visit https://www.thefoodwarehouse.com/store-locator/ to find your nearest store.

Don’t forget you can join our breakfast club for years 1-6 for £1 a day.

PTA Halloween disco please pre buy your tickets from reception for £2. For further information please contact the PTA.

Face painting will be available for £1

We have started introducing a dog to the school community. Further information will be sent out soon however the children are absolutely loving spending time with Clyde!

A massive thank you to Gilly and Forest School this week. The children were retelling the 'Going on a Bear Hunt' story. Lots of sensory play for enrichment activities and making sounds of real life objects in the woods. What a great job everybody!

We’ve had a few children using the word Bullying around school so we are doing some assemblies and class work around what Bullying is and what it’s means.

We will be taking part in national anti bullying week from 11th November to raise the awareness of what bullying means.

Amazing achievements from home being bought in and celebrated in school. Well done all of you!
