It was a dominant performance for fourth-ranked Michigan on Saturday (Oct. 8), as the Wolverines scored 11 touchdowns and rolled up 600 yards of total offense in a 78-0 victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

  • Michigan's defense held Rutgers to a single yard of offense in the first half and did not allow the Scarlet Knights a first down until the fourth quarter.
  • Jabrill Peppers (right) enjoyed his New Jersey homecoming, setting up Michigan's first touchdown with a 63-yard scamper from the quarterback position and later scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns.
  • The 78-point margin of victory is U-M's largest ever in a conference game and third largest overall.

GROUND

  • U-M totaled a season-high 481 yards on the ground. Chris Evans (left) led the attack with a career-best 153 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
  • Nine of Michigan's 11 touchdowns came on the ground, tying the program record for rushing TDs in a game (1939 vs. Chicago).
  • Five different players scored rushing touchdowns for Michigan: Khalid Hill (2), Karan Higdon (2), Jabrill Peppers (2), Ty Isaac (2) and Bobby Henderson.

Taco Charlton (left) recorded two of Michigan's four sacks, while leading tacklers Josh Metellus (six) and Ben Gedeon (five) had one sack apiece for the Wolverines.

AIR ATTACK

  • Michigan did not need to use its passing game much (8 of 16 for 119 yards), but Jehu Chesson (right) hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Wilton Speight to give the Wolverines a 14-0 lead.
  • Early in the second half, John O'Korn threw his first touchdown pass as a Wolverine, connecting with Khalid Hill on an 11-yard score.
