On March 14-17, A&M-Kingsville was the proud host of International Venom Week. Physicians, toxinologists and professors from around the world came to our campus to discuss medical cases, new research and much more!

On Wednesday, March 20, students celebrated Holi, or the Indian Festival of Colors. Holi is celebrated to welcome the arrival of Spring, the importance of love, and the power of good over evil.

Wings Over South Texas Air Show Pep Rally

Members of the Blue Angels spoke to the community in Javelina Stadium on Friday, March 23. There were more than 5,000 school children from all over South Texas in attendance. The rally also included high school marching bands and cheerleaders from four area high schools. Kingsville is the only city in the country that hosts an air show with an event like this.

Dean Guerrero or Top Gun?

Ride along with Dr. Dolores Guerrero as she flies the south Texas skies with a member of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Dr. Guerrero, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences said the pilot took her on a ride similar to what will be performed at the air show. The Blue Angels are at Naval Air Station-Kingsville ahead of the Wings Over South Texas Air Show Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25.

Our statue received quite the makeover! Thank you to those who worked hard during Spring Break to give the tiles on our statue a touch up! The javelinas on the boulevard are now ready to be the backdrop to many more photos and memories.

New Appointment: Dr. George Allen Rasmussen named Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. George Allen Rasmussen has been appointed Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

“I have been extremely impressed with Dr. Rasmussen’s leadership and vision and believe he will continue to do an outstanding job in his new role as Provost. For the immediate future, Dr. Rasmussen will continue his dual role as Provost while also overseeing the Office of Research and Graduate Studies,” Dr. Steven H. Tallant, president of Texas A&M-Kingsville, said.

Annual Faculty Lecture Looks at The Global Impact of Rural Mental Health Advocacy:

Dr. Steve F. Bain, associate professor and chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling, will deliver the presentation “The Global Impact of Rural Mental Health Advocacy” Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. in Peacock Auditorium, located in the Biological and Health Sciences Building on campus.

Temporary parking lot closures: Parking Lot C, Lot A (new lot on Armstrong), and the two lots by ROTC (behind the building and the one to the East between ROTC and Gross Hall), will all be closed late Thursday night (April 5) and remain closed all day Friday (April 6).

Documentary shows flight from Syria through a child's eyes:

The Multicultural Heritage Committee and Intercultural Programming at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will host a free showing of the award-winning documentary Unwelcome at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Javelina Student Engagement Center (JSEC).

Texas A&M-Kingsville named Weather-Ready Nation:

Texas A&M University-Kingsville has been named a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador™ by the National Weather Service, said Dr. Shane Creel, CSP,CFE, CCEP, executive director of Enterprise Risk Management.

Texas A&M-Kingsville recognized on Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll:

Texas A&M University-Kingsville was one of only 112 colleges and universities in the nation to be recognized as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll which recognizes the top four-year colleges and universities for creating dynamic pathways to support community college transfer students.

Students from the Financial Management Association took over our Javelina Nation Snapchat for the 2018 Finance Leaders' Conference. Attendees learned about financial career paths, expanded professional contacts, sharpened their leadership skills, and much more!
