Wetherby Athletic 2 v 5 Hunslet Club West Yorkshire Premier League

A patchy performance from Wetherby, that matched the changing weather, saw them race into a 2-0 lead, but lose out 5-2 in the end.

The match got off to a flyer for The Tangerines when debutant Daniel Brooks latched onto Jon Maloney's through balls to give the hosts a 2-0 lead after 3 minutes.

Daniel Crooks scored twice within the first five minutes.

Some hesitation in Wetherby's defence allowed Hunslet to pull one back in the 9th minute and by the 15th, it was all square!

Both teams had periods of good play, but some determined keeping by Hunslet's Jordan Myers kept Wetherby at bay.

The second half saw Wetherby pressure Hunslet's goal, but it was the visitor's who broke away and scored.

It was plainly not going to be our day when substitute Teydairvine Machama beat Myers but his back header slammed against the bar and Maloney slipped as he went for the follow up. Finally Andy Graham's shot is blocked on route to goal!

Josh Wilson was seeing plenty of the ball in the second half, but he was unable to convert a couple of chances.

Wetherby then had a shot cleared off the line as they searched for the equaliser!

With the game entering the final 10 minutes, Maloney was forced off injured and with no substitute to replace him, Wetherby were reduced to 10 men!

Hunslet made their extra number count and two good breaks down the pitch saw them add a further duo of goals to their total to win the game by a convincing 5-2 scoreline.

Well done to Hunslet, but for Wetherby, we will have to roll our socks up again next week against Headingley.
