Happy Belated Birthday! una serenata special

Laura mi hermanita, I pray in your 29th year as you have come across the journey of healing, renewing and transforming your ashes to beauty..... Do not fear the transition, but rejoice in the freedom of the burden.

We lost our beloved chistoso papa. And now we get to witness our loving mother become an individual who needs to re-invent herself after the long career of being a Mexican Housewife raising seven Mexican-American children. She is our reminder that life goes on in the mist of loss, despair, and the best companions are hope and faith.

If I was close by I would take you some mariachi to sing this song of la senora, Chavela Vargas....and of course a drink!

We are Mexican at the heart. Our tears cry out to our great-grandmothers and our abuelos struggle for survival of creativity, spirituality, in spite of the cruelty.
  • We are urban-Americans.
  • We wear dangling hoops earrings.
  • We sing Selena songs and dance to JLO & Beyonce music.
  • Anywhere life takes us, we will always feel at home when we express our thoughts, and humor in a dualism Language of Spanglish & compassion, the heart of the Castañeda's sibblings.
We are sister sharing our distance of 10 years age difference and 3,000 miles apart across the Altantic to Pacific Ocean. We are sisters that sing the same song.
We are changing constantly to define who we are.

Chavela Vargas canta... "hacia la vida". Somos llorona, pero luchonas como mama. Hoy vamos hacia la vida porque-si se puede cuando le "hechas ganas!"Así fue lo que dijo Papa.

And now this is my prayer for you.........

May the silence in your prayer proclaim a loud victory in peace and health and prosperity. Guard your heart and Give your smile.
Lili and Yola say... "I love you sister"!
