Norman cuisine is generous ... we like good things : butter, cream, cheese, apples. In the Norman recipes there are at least one of these ingredients.
I suggest you push the door of local companies to find out more about their fabrication process and to taste them.
Norman cheeses (Camembert, Livarot, Pont l'Evêque, Pavé d'Auge, Neufchatel) like to be accompanied by local cider.
Visit "Graindorge" to see their production and know about the history of these cheeses and also to taste them. You may mix this visit with Cider Road visits, but it is better to start with cheese, because you see the production part only in the morning.
Without these apples cider, calvados and pommeau would not exist. Consume with moderation of course !
I suggest you to push the door of producers. They give you the warmest welcome and often tasting is offered.
The tour of The Cider Road allows to explore the most favorable part in the production of cider and calvados. Indeed, it is considered that the Pays d'Auge is the best soil for apples.
