It's beyond cold when you wake up to a frosty -26 C.
we enjoy living here, and "they" did tell us that this would be a real winter once again this year.
I missed a morning of shooting the spectacular hoar frost the other week...but I did get to drive through the sunny morning countryside while peeking out of the frost covered windows [and that was on the inside of the truck] at the diamond coated world out there.
There will be more hoar frost mornings to capture.
This is from the other day....when I thought I was just being a wimp...get outside and go for a walk I told myself....the first few minutes were fine.
But as the sun went down...the cold hit hard.
The windchill blew through my clothes, freezing my scarf where I exhaled, fingers felt like blocks of ice...painfully reminding me that I needed better gloves.
Got home and found out it was -16 C with an added wind chill...
Somehow that knowledge made my fingers feel warmer.
Winter love...this field with a steer is one of my favorite shots from this season.
A muskrat swims in the pond on the bottom left of this shot..now with two more additions to his family.
The world is made of two different kinds of people...
Those who tolerate winter, missing it's beauty while waiting for spring....
and those who immerse themselves in it
Which one are you?
"The cold was our pride, the snow was our beauty. It fell and fell, lacing day and night together in a milky haze, making everything quieter as it fell, so that winter seemed to partake of religion in a way no other season did, hushed, solemn."
So for now we partake in winter's beauty...loving what it is offering to us.
Enjoying the season, and doing our best to stay warm.
