The Ocean By Olivia Arangio

Don't Drink The Seawater!- Human kidneys can only make urine that is less salty than salt water. Therefore, to get rid of all the excess salt taken in by drinking seawater, you have to urinate more water than you drank. Eventually, you die of dehydration even as you become thirstier.

Why is the ocean important to life on earth?

Oceans are important for many reasons including fisheries, shipping routes, oxygen, temperature and weather control. As well as it helps the water cycle.

How is ocean current related to earth's climate?

Ocean currents act much like a conveyor belt, transporting warm water and precipitation from the equator toward the poles and cold water from the poles back to the tropics.

Currents regulate global climate, helping to counteract the uneven distribution of solar radiation reaching Earth’s surface.

Without currents, regional temperatures would be more extreme—super hot at the equator and frigid toward the poles—and much less of Earth’s land would be habitable.

Zones Of The Oceans

The Sunlight Zone gets the most sunlight making plants plentiful. Common animals here include sea turtles, sea lions, and sharks. Depths are from 0ft-656ft. The Twilight Zone has only dim light that reaches this region of the ocean. Common animals include jellyfish, and squids. No plants grow here. Depths are from 656ft- 3,280ft. The Midnight Zone is the area deep in the sea. It doesn't get any sunlight. Common animals here are anglerfish, snipe eels, and tripod fish. Depths are from 3,280ft- 13,123ft. The Abyss Zone is often described as the deep sea. Common creatures include bling shrimp, sea spiders, and hagfish. Depths are from 13,123ft- 19,685ft. Finally The Hadal Zone is the extreme depths of the ocean. Water temperature is barely above freezing. Some life exists such as sea cucumbers. Depths are from 19,685ft-36,197ft.
