A Baby& A Stroke By: Emily Lites

My brother Jude had a stroke before he was born which cause massive internal bleeding within the brain. The doctors had no idea the severeness of his injury until he was born. At 3 months old my brother Jude had his first seizure we took him to the hospital and he had an EEG which looked at the electrical signal within the brain and he was diagnosed with epilepsy.

My brother had many special needs due to the brain bleed including cerebral palsy, legally blind, scoliosis, and he could not speak.
Jude had 2 surgeries one was a g-button to help him eat without aspirating, and the brown tin helped release medication to stop his hips from rotating outwards.

Epilepsy is abnormal electrical impulses within the brain causing convulsions. Many different types of seizures exist my brother had grand mal seizures which causes violent muscle spasms, screaming, and loss of consciousness. Cerebral Palsy affects muscles and a person’s ability to control them. Cerebral Palsy affects body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance. It can also impact fine motor skills, gross motor skills and oral motor functioning.

Jude liked high pitch noises and his make a wish was to visit sea world and hear the dolphins. Jude had chronic lung disease and was in and out of hospitals since he was born. Having CP Jude could not cough or sit up like normal kids making him susceptible to other illnesses. Jude was on hospice for two years he had nurses 24/7 to care for him and make him as comfortable as possible.

This was Jude in the hospital with his sleep sheep that made dolphin noises this was the only thing that would help him fall asleep.
Jude had epilepsy medication and pain relief medication 3 times a day.

Jude had a major decline of April 2016 his breathing became very shallow and the oxygen machine couldn't help him anymore. Jude passed away at 7:50 am on April 9th 2016. His ceremony was beautiful and hundreds of people showed up because he touched their lives. Jude only knew love he had no hate for anyone or anything it's a life we strive for as humans. Jude understood everything that went on in his life because he was a true stroke victim. He will forever be in our memory.
