Oporto or Porto is located in the north of Portugal, along the Douro river estuary.

The population is about 2.1 millions and the currency are the euros like in Spain. Oporto is the second largest city in Portugal after Lisbon and one of the oldest Europeans centres thats why it makes the city interesting.

From autumn to spring is it usually a cold and rainy place, in fact it can be a rather Londonish air sometimes, so from April to September temperatures begin to rise and rains cease, so the best epoch to go to Oporto and stay well are the months between April and September.

5.HOW TO GET AROUND

Oporto is easy city to get around because it is too small. We recomended you to visit all the city by walking, but there is also tram and a train station call S.Bento that it is also beautiful.

FUNICULAR

An interesting thing is that there is funicular that takes you from the lower part of Oporto to the high part. That´s because Oporto is a city with a lots of slopes.

6. FAMOUS CITIZENS IN OPORTO

Iker Casillas

The famous goalkeeper Iker Casillas, exgoalkeeper of Real Madrid team, and nowadays player of Oporto team, with his wife Sara Carbonero.

ROSA MOTA

She is a Portuguese former maraton runner. She was born in Oporto and she was the firs sportswoman from Portugal to win an Olympic gold.

HARRY POTTER

In Oporto there is a library call Livraria Lello where a sequence of Harry Potter was inspired in this library.
