MEN'S ICE HOCKEY

The Men's Ice Hockey Club entered the weekend ranked #1 in the region and looked to continue their hot streak on Friday night against the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. It was a homecoming of sorts for Cameron Smith, as he returned to Cambria War Memorial Ice Center, the home of his former team.

Nick Grose and Matt Rosenberger opened the scoring for Mason midway through the 1st period and pushed Mason to a quick 2-0 lead. Pitt-Johnstown (UPJ) would cut the lead in half with a minute remaining in the first period (2-1). Johnstown opened the second period with a quick goal to tie the game a 2-2. Mason was unable to connect during the period despite out shooting UPJ.

With the game tied at 2 entering the third period, Frank Lackey would connect with Trevor Mack to put Mason ahead 3-2. It would not be long before freshman Tim Contos went back door courtesy of an assist from Trevor Mack. The assist accounted for the 200th career ACHA point for Mack. "The accomplishment is awesome. I have been blessed to play with so many great players throughout my collegiate career but am focused on winning hockey games." - Trevor Mack.

Cameron Smith added a late goal of his own to put Mason ahead 5-2 with 5 minutes remaining in regulation. UPJ added a 3rd goal of their own, but it would be too late, as Mason was able to secure the 100th career victory for Head Coach Steve Hyjek. Freshman Tim Contos leads the nation with 6 game winning goals.

Mason headed to Penn State - Altoona on Saturday evening and could not be stopped. The club skated to victory behind the outstanding performances of Cameron Smith (5 goals/3 assists) and Trevor Mack (3 goals/3 assists). Matt Rosenberger (2), Tim Contos (1), and Nick Grose, (1) would add goals of their own in the 12-4 blowout. Nate George picked up his second win of the season as the club extended their record to 11-3-1-1 on the season.

SOFTBALL

Mason Club Softball closed out their fall season on a high note by sweeping Georgetown on Saturday afternoon. Leading the way for Mason were pitchers Gaby Borrego and Shauneice Beasley who combined for 17 strikeouts on the day. The bats came alive in game 2 with 3 RBI's from Ciara Johnson and 2 more from Emilie Sanchez. Senior Marissa Ehrhardt had great job behind the plate and contributed with a hit of her own.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Women's Club Soccer team traveled to Mary Washington University this past weekend to compete in the 5v5 Kicking and Screaming Indoor Tournament. The event provided the club an opportunity to work on their ball skills and agility due to the uptempo pace of the game. Mason was able to finish the weekend 2-2-2 with wins over Christopher Newport University and Mary Washington.

RUNNING

Members of the Mason Running Club traveled to Richmond, VA this past weekend to compete in the NIRCA Cross Country National Championships. Results were not reported.
