Welcome to Your New Club James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn

In September 2017, the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn completed the biggest project in the Club's history - a $9.3 million building renovation - to better serve the kids and teens who need us most.

Today, you're invited to tour the new Club, become part of our community, and join us in making a positive impact on today's youth... tomorrow's leaders.

Building Futures Together

This incredible renovation project was made possible thanks to generous individuals, families, businesses, foundations, and institutions who, to date, have helped raise over $8.5 million toward capital costs. We are so grateful for how far we've come and we're now in the final stage to funding this project entirely.

Completion of the Building Futures Campaign and retiring its loan will mean greater stability and growth for the Club and its youth members. See how you can help us through the home stretch to realize our goal of raising the additional $900,000 that's needed.

We'd love to show you the many ways...

Join Our Community

Businesses and individuals can get involved in many ways that ultimately benefit our youth. We're happy to discuss the options that fit you best.

Donate: Make a one-time cash donation or a five-year pledge payable quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. Your commitment is essential and valued.

Sponsor: Send a child-in-need to our summer camp. Invest in our competitive swim program and help more kids be part of a team. Or, sponsor one of the Club's annual fundraising events (golf tournament, Pot-of-Gold dinner, carnival, Kick-In-For-Kids road race) that benefit every one of our youth members.

Rent: Reserve our facility spaces for your next corporate event. Coordinate a team-building event, host a breakfast meeting, or bring your team for practices and tournaments. Even schools can use our space to enhance their athletic curriculum.

Attend: Join us at one of our annual fundraisers. Or, bring your friends and colleagues and exercise in our gym and pool each weekday morning, well before the kids arrive. Adult memberships are just $200 per year or daily drop-ins are only $5.

Volunteer: Lend a helping hand. We have an amazing staff here at the Club, but with so many programs and fundraising events taking place annually, volunteers are always welcome.

Mentor: Share your knowledge. Our area community is made up of successful businessmen and women. What a great opportunity to give a youth seminar and show the kids and teens all of the possibilities the future holds.

Let's talk more about the return on your investment in the Club.

The community has given so much to you over the years - a location for your business, customers, and employees. Isn't it time to give back?

Did you know that every dollar invested in Boys & Girls clubs returns $9.60 in current and future earnings and cost savings to their communities?

These kids you help today may be your future employees. It's a long-term project, but one that could offer you a valuable return on your investment. You may even have Club alumni working in your business right now and you may not even know.

The Club has an incredibly strong community alumni core. These alumni are still together - working - networking - friends. Our alumni network is deep and Club kids never forget the connections they make here. They have and will continue to forge strong business relationships well into the future.

So how does this all align with you?

Mission & Values

At the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club, a community resource for more than 50 years, our mission has been to inspire youth to find their greatness through Academic, Health & Wellness, Character & Leadership, and Sports & Recreation programs.

In this building, we encourage & create strong, healthy relationships, provide a positive, safe & fun environment, build youth ownership, and offer unlimited opportunities to learn & BE GREAT!

Who We Serve

More than 1,600 youth & teens call the Club their second home and an additional 500 youths take part in area outreach programs spanning five locations across Woburn. Members are from Woburn, Burlington, Winchester, Reading and more than 20 other area cities and towns.

The Club is essential to the community. We are available to all youth yet in 2019, more than 300 of our Club members are living in single-parent households and 27% of our members are from low income households.

We have good news.

Researchers confirmed Club members to have higher physical activity and grades, and lower cigarette, marijuana, and alcohol use. And a national survey of parents demonstrated that 83% agreed that after school programs help them keep their jobs.

A foundation of our programming is to set our members on the path to a great future. An average of 300 kids receive daily homework assistance, tutoring, and ongoing mentoring. More than 150 young members participate in daily physical fitness & healthy lifestyles programming. In 2019, 100% of our Club members were on track to graduate from high school, on-time with their peers. 83% of those teens also aspire to attain a four-year college degree.

How's that for impact?

Perhaps most important, 92% of our members feel like they belong when they walk into our programs each day and are greeted with a high-five by an adult staff member or volunteer who they know care about them. How do you put a price on that?

These programs and the staffing are available all for their annual membership of just $25.

Visit & Tour

There are lots of places and spaces to see! With this project's completion, the Club's footprint is nearly double the size of its original space - both in square footage and the impact we're making in the community. Visit, see this impact, and experience the energy and excitement that resonates among the kids as they learn, create, play, and socialize.

The first floor features a gym, pool, commercial kitchen, cafe, performance stage, dance studio, and preschool.

First Floor

The new gymnasium features two full-sized basketball courts where members can engage in physical fitness each day.

Members and the community learn to swim and teams compete in the six-lane indoor pool. Spaces like the pool and gym are also available for rent.

The second floor features a computer lab, art room, educational classrooms, and teen center.

Second Floor

Modern educational spaces and a computer lab encourage members to participate in daily science-technology-engineering-math (STEM) programming to prepare for college and the modern workforce. Likewise, members express their creativity and develop their artistic talents in the new classrooms.

And teens now have a space all their own. More than 80 teens participate in daily leadership & character development projects.

Moving Forward

The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn has reached an important time and we hope you will be part of it.

New programs have been added, a brand new on-site pre-school opened in September 2018, a Teen Entrepreneur program begins in September 2019, and we are working with other youth-based organizations on facility rentals - all of which will increase the Club's operational revenue and reach throughout the community.
